This castle is magnificent. The drive along the A87 was the most beautiful journey I have had the pleasure of driving. The castle is so reasonably priced too. The views from the bridge and from up in the walls was breathtaking. It was raining but we didn’t care, just added to the atmosphere and dramatic scenery. The cafe was busy and hit but the staff were friendly. The gingerbread cake was a delicious accompaniment to the coffee. Would love to visit again one day.

Don‘t miss this castle on your visit to Skye. My favourite castle in Scotland. Very impressive and big entertainment. There are some hidden secrets! Try to open all possible doors of the closets and have fun. Don‘t forget the small one at the stairs when you go downstairs!

As our superb guide, John MacDonald, said to us about Eilean Donan: This is the picture-postcard view that sells Scotland to tourists. And it doesn't disappoint. A most superior and loving resoration... a jewel of a castle with views that I don't think I could ever tire of. You'll burn out your camera batteries taking perfect shot after perfect shot. If you love castles, this has to be on your list. It may look to be a bit off the beaten path to get there, but it's an easy ride from Inverness.

Visited in August 2017. This is the castle used in the early scenes of James Bond The World is Not Enough after the MI6 HQ suffered a blast in the outside wall. The castle is fantastic both outside and inside. Plenty of history to look at and lots of representations of how things would have been back in the days of the working castle. The Kitchen is a work of art. The outside has a lot to look at and has incredible scenery. Great grounds and a good size visitor centre, café, toilet facilities and gift shop. Free Parking. £7.50 adults and £4.00 children with variations for seniors and family.

Gorgeous medieval castle with rich history. First built in the 13th century, the castle was destroyed during the 1719 Jacobite uprising, and restored from ruin in the 1920's. The property is still used by the owners. The grounds offer beautiful views of the sea-loch and hills. Interesting displays inside but no photo taking permitted. The guides were very welcoming and knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit.
