Just happened to stumble on this wonderful castle with its majestic setting whilst driving through the highlands. This chocolate box picture castle had the must stop and investigate more. Not being heavily influenced on the Scottish history and no doubt to manty this is the equivalent of Winsor Castle to us south of the boarder.
I found it very interesting and glad I stopped on my travels. Great pictures.

Not the biggest castle. However the breathtaking views make up for it.
Really fell in love with this place.

We didn't actually visit the inside of the castle but stopped on our road trip to visit the cafe, toilet and gift shop all of which were of a high standard. Lovely photo opportunities so well worth pulling over on your journey.

I went to Eilean Donan in 2016. One of my teachers from high school has an interest in this castle. Sowe went. Its a small castle and you cant take pictures inside. The history is pretty interesting. I think only one side is from the original castle because of bombings and/or wars. It is a nice place to visit.

Eilean Donan castle was one of the highlights of our trip! Perhaps our favorite stop. It was absolutely beautiful from the outside, and you can get those iconic photos from the parking lot and never pay the 7.50 pound entrance fee. But it is definitely worth going into the castle. You can't take pictures inside, as the house still belongs to a family and they have family pictures everywhere, but there's a lot of rich history to discover in the castle. During our stop we met a lovely man, Richard, who worked in the castle and spent the better part of two hours educating us about the history of the castle. It really made it a wonderful and personal experience for us. You will not regret your stop to this castle.
