Just traveled the north coast 500. Blown away by the scenery and the roads. Some of the roads were single lane only but the rest of the trip made up for it. Can't wait to come back from Australia and ride it on my motorcycle. My wife who is a very mervous passenger in the car and she totaly enjoyed it. Great coffee shop in Gairloch.

Me, my partner and dog done this as a camping trip. It took us 5 days and we saw the most beautiful places. Beaches, clear waters, caves, coves, castles, waterfalls, walks, mountains and the nicest of people we done wild camping and 2 nights and the rest at campsites. Campsites at Ullapool and Durness were great, we just booked on the day of arrival. We done this route clockwise from Inverness and so glad we did as there is much more too see and do from the west. The weather changed so many times on our journey from really sunny and warm to freezing and raining but it didn't ruin it at all for us. Dog friendly pub/restaurant in Ullapool 'the seaforth' was lovely and my dog loved all the staffs attention. 500 miles isn't much but you are stopping a lot to take pictures and do activities. We had no problems on the roads at all everybody we passed was courteous enough on the single track roads and at every main place there was places to eat, drink and stock up on supplies and petrol with most places having card machines or banks near by. Most fuel was priced the same as everywhere else with the exception of a couple being 8p more than the average. Everything we saw on trip was breathtaking and we will definitely be doing it again.

100 miles of the rout is single track road with passing places.
Local house prices have become too high for local people.
Convoys of motorbikes, and motorbike casualties frequent.
Do go off and explore other areas to.

Best tour we’ve ever done in the campervan. The views and sights are wonderful. We spent the whole week taking our time and visiting so many places. We followed someone else’s advice and not be afraid to go off the beaten track. We saw so much more that way. If we had stayed on the main route we would e missed so much.
