A beautiful building all on its own! This library houses the Glasgow City Archives. Do your research before you go - they can only find documents if you already know what you're asking for. Using the Family History center requires a reservation and will cost 15 pounds for access to all of their records (through Scotland's People). The cafe offers a variety of food, deserts, and drinks at a reasonable price. Great gift shop.

I used the family research facility at the Mitchel Library to trace some of my Scottish ancestors, The staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities perfect for what you need. Planning my next trip in August.

There are several entrances to this building. One entrance brings you into a pretty basic modern library that is used by all Glaswegians - I was wondering what the fuss was all about this Library. Until... I exited through another entrance, and this is where the true beauty of this building can be seen. Gorgeous architecture. And look up to see the Rotunda. One cannot go up it (Security will stop you) but it is a beauty to behold and photograph.
