“Excellent Location, big house. Can easily accommodate 13 people.”

The location is excellent. It's a 5 minute walk to the old course and the new course and a 1-3 minute walk to several great restaurants and shops. The grocery story, Tesco, is less than 5 minutes away.
There are two living rooms (one considerably smaller than the other) but both have TV's which is great if there are others that want to watch a different program. The smaller living room also has a way out to the garden and good views of the church. They also have the Wii. We didn't test it out but it's there. The kitchen is very large and we were a party of 15 on most days and didn't feel cramped.
Also on the ground floor, there is a full bathroom (shower & toilet) and a separate half bath. Both are very modern and big. The washer/dryer is also there.
The first floor has 3 bedrooms. One of the bedrooms has an attached bathroom. The other two have to share a bathroom which is in the first floor hallway. This bathroom is pretty small and pretty old. Two of the bedrooms are massive. The third one is small.
The second floor has 4 bedrooms and none of them have an attached bath. There is a bathroom in the hallway which everyone has to share. There are washbasins in the bedrooms on the 2nd floor.
I am writing all this in detail because we could not get a straight answer from the management when we emailed them. The house also has one iron. There is no coffeemaker in the kitchen. They do have an electric kettle. No hairdryer either.
They do have free Wifi (doesn't work in the bedrooms) but there is no information about the code at the house. We had to call up the office to ask them for it.
Pros: Definitely location. It's close to everything: golf/restaurants/shops/grocery store. Also, if it's a large group, this is good.
Cons: No coffee maker and no hairdryer. There is no landline phone to use (even if they charge per call, it's still nice to have for people that come from outside the UK and can't use the cellphone). The 'information' folder they have is hardly sufficient. The mgmt. doesn't provide any information on taxis or shops or restaurants or anything.
The house also don't have any spare towels or anything - not even one extra towel. They have two pull out cots but no extra sheets for it.
There is no coat closet so if you go when its cold, you'll have to lug everything upstairs to your room. And if you with golf bags, there's no place to really store it and you're going to have to leave it in the hallway and it makes getting around a bit difficult.
One other tip for management - they talk about spa/gym/pool services in the Fairmont. It costs 25pounds/week which is reasonable. But, getting there by taxi costs 10 pounds each way. The management does not mention that. It's about 10-12 mins by car but it costs 10 pounds each way. The fairmont has a free shuttle that stops very close by but we cannot really use that. Only the guests that reside at the Fairmont can use that free shuttle. We took it a couple of times but it operates when and only if there are guests that are coming to town. And if the guests fill up the shuttle, then we are asked to get off. The management at Kingask would do well to have the Fairmont allow us to use that shuttle as we are paying for the spa/gym/pool services. The dishwasher doesn't clean very well so a lot of the dishes had stuff on them and the management didn't really check to see if all the glasses and dishes are clean.
Overall, a good place to stay for the location but the management still has a long way to go to bring the property up to proper standards.

“Brilliant house for large group”

A party of 12 golfers used this house over Easter 2013. The house was set-up as requested (twin bedrooms), with the living areas downstairs more than capable of accommodating such a large group. The location of the house is first class, 5 minutes to the Old Course 1st tee, only a 1 minute walk to some of the bars and restaurants on offer in the town. Should we seek to recreate a similar trip in the future, I would book this property without a second thought, it was exactly what we were after (the free wifi & sky sports provision were added bonuses). The booking and communications with the management company were straightforward and easy. Double thumbs up, just like The Fonz.

“Great house in a central position”
Reviewed 29 March 2013 for a stay in March 2013

Great house close to centre of St Andrews and plenty of shops, bars and restaurants close by. bedrooms, 3 on first floor and 4 on 2nd floor with a lot of stairs would not be suitable for everybody. This was our second visit to the house and we really enjoyed ourselves and will be back again.

“Beautiful house, perfect for what we needed”
Reviewed 20 February 2013 for a stay in February 2013

I rented this house for the family for a long weekend, as we all travelled up to St Andrews for my cousin's wedding. There were 11 of us that stayed, so the size of the house was perfect. It's a really beautiful property, perfect location in St Andrews within walking distance of everything. It was nice and cozy despite being large, and was just what we needed. The pre-booking information was prompt and helpful, payment was easy, and the directions to collect and return the keys were fine. The property was clean and had plenty of bathrooms, so there were no fights on the morning of the wedding when we all needed to get ready!
