We have just returned from a brilliant Easter weekend away at Harvieston and the house was all we could have hoped for for our stag party.
The bedrooms were spacious and the beds comfortable, kitchens and bathrooms well appointed, and there was plenty of living space to relax in.
All of the dealings with booking/checking in/checking out were seamless and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Harvieston Hall to anyone looking for a base to explore Edinburgh and the surrounding area.
The location is twenty five minutes from the international Edinburgh airport. It is not in the city but near the countryside. I wanted somewhere special for us to spend the new year and because we have family in the highlands of Scotland, this seemed like the ideal location. 18 of us arrived and met the owner. We had a lovley tour of the house. The grand room with the open fire was breathtaking, my papa was amazed. The house was clean and well looked after. The bedrooms were large and bed very nice. The only thing we would have changed would be the heat, it was a little toasty in the morning time.
We would recommend this house to anyone looking for a lovley place to get together with family or friends or even a party. We have booked to stay at Christmas time - it is going to be amazingly. Thank you xxx
Awesome awesome weekend
Booked 9 months ago for my oldest freinds stag weekend in Edinburgh.
We all arrived from London late on the Friday night and were greatest warmly by a chef we’d arranged for the weekend who had prepared Haggis Neeps & Tatties on our arrival as well as ensuring a well stocked bar!!
The next couple of days were a blur in traditional stag weekend fashion . The owner had organised a number of excursions and activities on our behalf which made the weekend seamless & relaxing for everyone. Food was great, accommodation fantastic!! Close enough to Edinburgh to enjoy the city and all its delights - far enough to feel you are in the countryside for outdoor activities
Can’t recommend enough. Thanks to Dave & Cam for all your help and effort
Andrew, Russel and all the guys ( and token girl Claire!!)
Myself and 4 generations of my family spent our annual weekend away together at this property. Over the years we have had lovely accommodation and I have never before written a good or bad review on any of them.
However...Harvieston Hall is the exception
Firstly the large lounge with the great open fire was furnished with a mismatch of old, ripped, broken and soiled furniture which I am sure a Charity Shop would not have accepted.
The Games Room advertised was actually 2 games tables in a corridor outside our bedrooms which were unplayable because of the lack of space.
The beds on the whole were comfortable and clean but the actual bedrooms were dirty and dusty with debris including half a bottle of lucozade and half packet of rice cakes behind the bedside table in my room.
In the kitchen we had to wash all the crockery and cutlery before use and the utensils consisted of 2 wooden spoons 2 blunt knives and a serving spoon, the only refrigeration was 1 family sized fridge freezer not 2 as stated. Totally inadequate for a house that takes up to 34 guests
We selected this accommodation after viewing photographs, reading descriptions and studying the 5* reviews on the various web sites advertising this property.
I would strongly recommend "that you take these with a pinch of salt" and view the property before booking.
Hired out for a reunion of friends and was extremely impressed. Plenty of space for our group of 18, with rooms to spare. Communal areas perfect for chatting in the kitchen, sitting by the log fire or dining in the large dining table. Set in a stunning location, impressive driveway and grounds to explore. Met by the host and was very helpful, with advice about how to get the best out of our weekend.
