Description: At The Cellar Door we are passionate about Scottish cuisine. Scotland has a rich cultural heritage and a strong sense of national identity, and we believe that its food is at the heart of that heritage. From the famous to the familiar, we endeavour to put a modern twist on traditional dishes and flavours to create something new and unique. Scotland's lands and lochs provide some of the finest ingredients in the world, and we are committed to using only fresh local produce from our trusted suppliers as the starting point for our menu. Our chefs create new meat and fish dishes every day to give our customers a taste of Scotland that is truly special. We also carry a wide range of malt whiskies and local ales for the full Scottish experience. The restaurant is situated in an old printing press and has been newly refurbished to give our customers a sense of history in a warm and welcoming environment. After all, it is not only food that makes Scotland great; its hospitality is famed the world over. Whether you have travelled from Brechin or Beijing, our staff will always make you feel right at home. We are happy to cater for parties of up to sixty for private hire of the restaurant and will work with your party to create a menu that suits your tastes, budgets and dietary requirements. The Cellar Door is pleased to offer new team-building workshops, which include chocolate-making and a two or three course meal as well as a variety of group activities.

I visited the cellar door around a month ago. Me and my wife loved the food and the laughs with friendly staff so decided to dine here again while we were in Edinburgh. Great meal. I had the cured salmon starter and it was outstanding. Served by the same waitress Mell who actually remembered us from before and was brilliant again. No doubt we’ll be back!

My mum and I we told to come here by a local we were staying with and I have to say, The Cellar Door did not disappoint! With wonderful food, a varied menu and local delicacies, it was a perfect evening! We had a lovely server called Vera who really made the night perfect! 5* from us as we would definitely come again and thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

After finding this gem last December, I returned for an evening meal and yet again left thoroughly delighted
The salmon starter was beautiful and the main of lamb was divine!!!The Chocolate dessert was superb! The explosion of flavours throughout each course was fantastic!!!’
The service was unbelievably warm and welcoming
Don’t be put off by the entrance, which looks like a small but nicely decorated cafe... the actual restaurant is on the lower floor!
Highly recommended!!!

The entrance of this restaurant is above it but it is worth looking for it. The menus are various and of good value. Try the brown beer from St-Giles.
