The tour around places connected with Scottish writers and film locations was most amusing and entertaining rather than usual boring tours of historical places. We had such fun not only with the tour guide but also great banter between the people on a tour. The guide was most knowledgeable and could answer all our tricky questions. I live in Edinburgh and still found this tour most educational and fun at the same time.

I'd highly recommend this tour for someone who loves movies and literature and is looking for something a bit more offbeat than the standard tartan tat type tour. I know Edinburgh well but still got to see fascinating and beautiful parts of the city that I didn't know of before and heard some fascinating anecdotes about things like Braveheart, Sean Connery and Irvine Welsh.

This is no ordinary tour about the city of Edinburgh. This arts and culture walking tour is absolutely perfect if you are looking for something different from the numerous ordinary tours that can be found in the city. As my first experience with Geek's guide to Scotland, my experience was entirely positive.

I am an Edinburgh local. So, I hear you ask " why did you go on a tour in your own hometown?". Well, I went along to this tour, as part of personal research for my masters degree, but also because I was interested by the sound of a tour with a difference. I have lived in Edinburgh for my whole life and I can honestly say that I had learned a lot during my tour with Geek's guide to Scotland. Also, during the tour, I can say that I didn't feel like I was being spoken at - I felt like the tour guides were given me information in a more interactive way, as tour participants were frequently asked about our own experiences, which I think is a nice personal touch.

The particular tour that I went on, took me to places that show just how much Edinburgh has played a part in the history of literature, as well as educating me about certain film locations that I wasn't already aware of - which, as a student studying film tourism, was not only educational, but lovely for me to hear, as an Edinburgh resident.

The taster tour has given me insight to places in Edinburgh that I had never been to before and made me want to explore more in my own hometown. And although this particular tour was free on this occasion, I'd happily pay to take the full length tour - I fully believe that it would be worth it for the experience.
As my experience on the taste tour was just so positive and great, I will definitely be keeping my eye out for more events that Geek's guide to Scotland host!

I would highly recommend this for all - Visitors AND Edinburgh locals/residents! Great for all ages, including busy students! :)
