Description: Tempo Perso INDIPENDENT ITALIAN EATERY In April 2014, the people of Edinburgh were invited to taste and embrace a true Italian dining experience. A concept first born in Italy in 2003, Osteria del Tempo Perso was created, with love, by the Iacobelli family in Casalvieri, 15 years ago. As well as importing artisan ingredients from their home farm in Italy, the family have further enhanced their menu with the finest produce from Scotland’s larder. It’s this perfect mix of Italy and Scotland that makes Tempo Perso, Edinburgh. Tempo Perso is an independent Italian eatery and wine bar owned by the Iacobelli family. Marco Iacobelli now calls Edinburgh home. He is deeply invested in sharing and promoting the true essence of Italian food and hospitality. Marco is passionate about celebrating the fresh food and fine wine he grew up enjoying in Italy. Remaining true to his roots means keeping it simple but eternally pleasing. As such, the ethos of Tempo Perso was born. Simple is Beautiful.

Ate here tonight, sat outside in the sun, had calamari and buffola/tomato bruchetta, were divine, mains, one meat ragu with spagetti, great sauce, nice fresh pasta, other main was spinach/ricotta ravioli, 4 pieces, could have eaten more, had one aperol spritzer and ordered a glass of wine for main, it never arrived, however, waiter had just forgotten, he was so apologetic, it was fine as I had finished my food in any case, we ordered a large expresso, which came with 2 digestif small drinks on the house, lovey gesture.. will def be back..

I highly recommend this restaurant! The best Italian I’ve ever been to! The restaurant itself looks classy and has a nice interior. The food was AMAZING and really authentic!! The drinks were also really good...I recommend the espresso martini! The staff are the BEST and make the experience!

There were a large group of us and we were treated really well! We all enjoyed the food so much! All the staff were friendly and very hard working. Marco was so kind and generous!...Thank you so much for the drinks!! David looked after us really well and was a perfect waiter!! He was friendly, hard working and made our night! Hope to come back again soon!

We came away from dinner here the other night quite disappointed. We shared a lovely pasta dish for starter along with some tricolore bruschetta. The latter was very simple, quite tasteless and lacking any finesse, we literally could have made better at home. The pasta was delicious though.

For mains, my husband had the fish risotto. It literally had no flavour. It was like eating plain rice. Really disappointing. I had the special of chicken in pancetta with green beans. This was £2 more than the chicken dish from the main menu and you had to pay more to have a side of roast potatoes with it whereas they come free with the chicken dish on the main menu-a little odd we thought. However it sounded promising. Unfortunately though it was chicken thighs wrapped in pancetta, and there was a lot of skin and cartilage still in the chicken meat. It just wasn’t that pleasant to eat and I was really disappointed given the price (£16 plus the roast potato side dish).

So essentially 3 of our 4 courses were quite disappointing. We came away feeling like we’d definitely paid too much for the quality we received.

The restaurant is quite cramped it should also be said. We were so right up against the tables on either side that we had to move ours to the side to squeeze out.

Overall quite disappointing and doubt we will return

Five of us met here for lunch. The special lunch menu is extensive and a good price. Wait staff friendly and helpful.

We all chose starters and mains for a set price then ordered sweets. We also had 2 bottles of prosecco and coffee. Starters were not the best we’ve had. Crusts of the Classic Bruchetta were so hard that we had to leave much of it in case we broke our teeth. One of us had mussels which she ate but said it hadn’t much flavour. Mains were all very tasty. Unfortunately a small piece of metal was found in a pasta meal which was a bit concerning. The waiter was very concerned and the cost of the meal was removed from our bill. Sweets were all good.

It’s a lovely restaurant but with high ceilings not the warmest. We enjoyed our get together but with so many places to choose from in the area I don’t think I’d rush back. It was good value however.

Always wanted to go here and was not disappointed.

Had n’duja mezzi pasta and wife had lasagne, and my son had macaroni from kids menu. we had a starter of garlic and rosemary focaccia resulting in us not being able to eat the full portions of the mains. So if you’re hungry, you won’t be disappointed.

We love the ambience and the chilled out service they provided. So much so that we are now using this place for our local Italian
