This hotel is a fraction of the price of most central hotels. However it is across the road from the railway station with trains travelling into Waverley station every 30 minutes or so. At a cost of about £2.20 return it is much cheaper than a taxi. The hotel is fairly new and is very clean. Ask for a room at the back if you want to avoid any noise from the pub next door. Though to be honest we barely heard any noise throughout our 2 night stay.

The brand Premier Inn, really tells you strait away what to expect. The things that differ are the staffs approach, cleanliness and comfort of the bed. At this Premier Inn all was great. Good parking and a nice Pub next door.

On a tip from other travellers we booked to stay one night at the Premier Inn in Edinburgh. The friendliness of the staff was a good start, then the room was great. Spacious and clean and easy to settle into. We ended up staying an extra night and continued to enjoy ourselves around the area. If we come back this way we’ll be saying hello again. Great place. Thanks for everything.

A great hotel that is easy to access from the A1 and easy to get into Edinburgh on the train (£3.30 off peak return September 18).

Very helpful team who helped us check in early, supplied maps, train times and were friendly.

The attached pub and restaurant are not run by Premier Inn so don’t have the same morning opening times as you might expect... hence we didn’t us the restaurant facilities, however the drinks were ok.

As you would expect very comfortable bed, Black out curtains and a very clean bathroom.

I would definitely come back

Location not good. Stuck out on the A1. Bar shabby and dated breakfast plentiful but the cooked option is of poor quality aPart from the bacon. Better sticking to the continental option. The room itself. No.14. Was good spacious clean and comfortable with a big tv on the wall. If you are just staying over for business and a place to sleep it's ok but there are no nearby pubs other than the one attached to the hotel. Good retail park nearby but closed on a Sunday after 6pm.

Dear John,

Thank you for taking the time to review our Newcraighall Edinburgh A1 hotel. If you do not have your own transport, there is a bus stop outside the hotel and the train station to Edinburgh city centre is across the road (10 minutes to centre) which return until midnight. Alternatively Musselburgh and Portobello are a short bus ride away for a larger selection of pubs and bars. Thank you for your feedback, I hope this information was of some use to you.
Kind Regards,
Claire D
