Just a bit out of the way for tourists (a few blocks from the Royal Mile, past the Conan Doyle Pub), and open limited hours, but well worth a visit. My artist wife wanted to see the murals, which are truly astonishing. She arranged a special Sunday afternoon visit through the Mansfield Traquair Trust. They were more than happy to do it. Fascinating story of the religious organization - the Catholic Apostolic Church - that built the church and commissioned the paintings believing the second coming was at hand. the murals are replete with religious symbolism, reflecting a deep knowledge of Christian beliefs. They are beautifully done. Gorgeous and inspiring to anyone, religious or otherwise.
