“The perfect house for a short break - great location and superbly equipped!”

Three generations of our family stayed in Mitchell's for 2 nights at the end of July and all absolutely loved it! Our party consisted of 6 adults and 2 children so we really appreciated having the space to spread out. While some of us were eating and others were playing board games, we had one person napping and another one working (wi-fi is provided) - all without bothering one other at all!

The location is great as you can walk everywhere even with small children in tow. We headed over Princes Street and up to the Royal Mile one day and down through the Stockbridge area to the Botanic Gardens the next. The amazing welcome pack provided on arrival formed the basis of the picnic we enjoyed in the Botanics.

Those of us who ventured out in the evening loved the proximity of the house to the high quality bars and restaurants on George Street - especially the outdoor rooftop bar of the Chaophraya restaurant - you don't have to eat there to enjoy a cocktail and the views, but the food did look great!

All the fixtures, fittings and furnishings are really high quality and there are iPod docks and Smart TV's in almost every room as well as a great range of board games and puzzles to amuse the kids.

We are already planning to book Mitchell's again for next summer!

“Excellent, comfortable, luxurious house”
Reviewed 10 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

The house is very well-located, just off North Castle Street, and it is usually possible to park either in Young St or North Castle St to load or unload luggage (3 hour limit until 6.30pm, then overnight). It is extremely well-equipped with very high quality furnishings and kitchen appliances/ utensils - something pretty unusual in holiday lets. Christine, who looks after the house, and who is extremely helpful, left a wonderful bounty of goodies to greet us on arrival, which makes all the difference rather than having to lug down to Tesco on the first day. Very clean, comfortable, and plenty of living and dining space as well as the four bedrooms.
The only down-side of this property, which is completely unavoidable, is the road noise. As it is cobbled outside, it is very noisy (especially on the first night of the Edinburgh Festival!) and every vehicle sounds like a juggernaut with flat tyres. It is something you get used to, and it is not such a busy road, but it is probably worth bringing ear plugs. As a large city though, road noise is a problem everywhere though, so I would not consider this a particular drawback of Mitchells, its many advantages definitely outweigh this.

“Amazing central townhouse!!!!”
Reviewed 25 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Mitchells townhouse is in a fabulous location, very central to the train station, shops, tourist attractions and good resturants.

Before the trip Christine had been in touch to offer two options for arrival and ensured we had all we needed for an excellent trip.

On arrival there was a hamper in the kitchen which was a very personal touch (and very much enjoyed).

The townhouse is very spacious, well equipped, nicely decorated and just what we needed for our trip. We really enjoyed how central it was to good resturants, in good walking distance to the shop (which is always a bonus) and tourist attractions.

My friends were impressed by the townhouse and agreed it was a good choice!

I would recommend this townhouse to family, friends and if I was going to Edinburgh again would definitely stay there again!!!

“All you could ask for”

What else can I say about Mitchells that hasn’t already been said in previous reviews?

The house is beautiful, the location perfect. We felt at home as soon as we arrived.

The welcome pack was more than we could have expected, and we couldn’t believe how well equipped the kitchen was, although in fact all we cooked was breakfast.

On the first night we had an excellent Chinese takeaway delivered from Rendezvous in Queensferry Street and on the second, we ate at the Cambridge bar just a few doors along Young Street. A small bar with a big burger menu. Recommend both.

We were a party of three sisters with OHs on our annual get-together and it was great to be able to relax and spread out in the big sitting room, as opposed to squeezing into one bedroom of a B & B. There is a second smaller sitting room and of course the large dining kitchen.
We were spoiled for choice in everything.

We thoroughly recommend Mitchells for a group.

“5 stars - Perfect Stay!”
Reviewed 25 March 2014 for a stay in March 2014

Just returned from a fabulous stay at Mitchells - 5 stars!!!

First time booking holiday rental through trip advisor so was a bit hesitant as to what to expect but Christine made everything seem so easy!

The house was gorgeous and the rooms were beautifully decorated, it felt more like a luxury hotel. We actually ended up cooking and eating in for all our meals as the kitchen/dining area was a great place to entertain. We loved the extra touch with the board games... not played connect 4 in years!!! We had a minor issue with the heating but all the details we needed were in the folder and Christine contacted us straight away to check we were ok even though it was a Friday evening!!

The complimentary food and drinks basket was a great touch, a much needed cup of tea and some biscuits on arrival was much needed!

The kitchen was really well equipped and the house had everything we needed. Loved that all the rooms had TVs!

Mitchells was in a great location... about 15 minutes from the airport (18 pounds in a cab for 6 of us) and walking distance to Edinburgh Castle, Whiskey Exchange and Arthurs Seat. The supermarket was also within easy walking distance.

All in all a fabulous stay. Would recommend and most definitely return. Loved it!
