“great weekend stay!”
Reviewed 16 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Excellent apartment, spacious and everything we needed. We walked to most places (10-15 minute walk) so it's very convenient but away from all the noise. Although we managed to connect easily to the apartment internet, we couldn't actually get onto to anything so not sure if there is an issue there. The 3rd bedroom mattress was very uncomfortable and definitely only suitable for one. it might be worth considering exchanging one of the king beds for twin beds?
In the main bathroom, we struggled to get a hot shower and I also got clonked on the head when the shower kept falling off it's holder. There were only 2 dishwasher tablets and we had to buy washing up liquid.Local parking is a challenge as it's permit holders only and max 4 hours on pay and display with keen traffic wardens. We dropped off the bags then took the car to Warriston Rd and walked back, leaving it there for the weekend.
These are all minor niggles, as overall the 5 of us had a great time. We cooked in the apartment and had breakfast each day. The store cupboard does contain all the basics. Due to our plans, having 2 sets of keys was a bonus. I would happily stay here again and appreciate Derek's patience in answering all our questions in advance!

“Thank you. Exactly what we wanted!”
Reviewed 22 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

A delightful apartment, just around the corner from the wedding church (St Vincent's Chapel). Easy walking distance of the station, trams, buses and that hub of Edinburgh, Princes St. The caretaker met us and she briefed us thoroughly about the apartment. We chose to eat out and there are various entirely satisfactory restaurants nearby. Weekend parking no problem (go on the single yellow line). However I am sure weekdays will be a problem! Thank you for the starter pack of tea, coffee and sugar. There is a Sainsbury Local, right out of the door, first left, 50m up the hill on the right of the street.

“Make Sure The Agent Shows You How Everything Works”

The apartment is beautiful--with high ceilings, detailed moldings, and light hardwood floors. The kitchen and bathrooms are new, and decorated with panels of turquoise glass. The kitchen is well equipped. There’s a lot to like about this apartment. However, the electrical systems and appliances are unusually complicated. Require the agent to meet you at the apartment (he was not planning to do that for us) and show you how EVERYTHING works. For example, to turn on the stove you also have to know to turn on a switch located across the kitchen. To take the hot water and central heat off a timer, you have to know that the controls for those systems are located in a white box inside the closet of the smallest bedroom. The washing machine and oven both necessitated our going to Google in order to learn how to use them. We’ve used appliances at a lot of rentals, but none of them work like the ones here.
Once we learned how to use all the systems, this was one of our favorite rentals.
The location is a few blocks further from the main areas than we had expected, but we liked the neighborhood. There is a Sainsbury’s grocery store a couple of blocks from the apt. The apartment itself is large and attractive, and was extremely clean.
The only major caveat I’d add is that the front bedroom, which was created out of a portion of the living room, has large, clear glass panels along the top of one wall that face into the living room. The glass panels were used as a device to preserve the beautiful ceiling moldings of the original living room, and make the them visible in the new living room. That means that, if there are lights on in living room (including light from the TV), they shine brightly into that bedroom. Also, glass isn’t an effective noise buffer, so noise from the living room transfers into that bedroom.
A smaller problem is that the hall bathroom has turquoise glass squares set into the wall it shares with the master bedroom. (The glass blocks go through the wall and are part of the decoration for both the bathroom and the master bedroom.) If someone uses that bathroom at night (it is the only bathroom for the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms), muted light shines into the master bedroom.
Overall, this was one of our favorite places that we stayed during a long trip. However, if you need 3 bedrooms, consider whether the bedroom next to the living room will really work for the people in your group, and whether light coming through the blue glass bricks in the hall bath will bother people sleeping in the master bedroom.

“Brilliant accommodation”

Beautiful high ceilinged apartment in Edinburgh New Town. Plenty of space, large lounge, nice kitchen with full facilities if you want to self-cater - full oven , microwave, dishwasher etc. 3 large bedrooms, one ensuite and another full bathroom - very clean and modern. Excellent location - 10 mins (partly uphill!) walk to Princes Street, on a bus route into centre or out to Leith. Lots of local restaurants nearby, or plenty of chain ones near Princes Street. Two or three local decent size supermarkets for all supplies.
£5-6 taxi into city centre.
Very helpful owner.
What more can you say, great relaxing stay in a beautiful city!
