This is one of the best universities in the world and the campus is full of that old school spirit. They allow public to enter freely, so use that opportunity and take a stroll. Very inspiring place.

Lots of old world charm at this campus, open to the public. Places to sit in the courtyard. Very lively neighborhood.

One of the places on our list was the University of Edinburgh. We had seen pictures online and it looked so pretty. We weren't expecting it to be so close to our hotel, but that was an added bonus. We walked there and took in the lovely, old architecture. The courtyard was stunning, and I marvelled at my first taste of Edinburgh's much loved architecture. I highly recommend a visit here.

Looking for nine single rooms in Edinburgh to see the Military Tattoo was going to be a hard task until a friend recommended the University. We all had a twin room with en suite, comfortable beds and daily cleaning. The breakfast was up to five star standard with fruit, ham, cheese, cereals and plenty of cooked bacon, eggs, sausages, black pudding and even haggis. It was interesting to have many nationalities, some on exchanges and others performing in the Tattoo. We did have to walk back after the Tattoo and it was a long way but generally taxis cost about £6-£7 to the centre of town.
