“Almost Five Star”
Reviewed 7 June 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Very pleased at the size of the living room and bedroom. Bathroom was average and like most bathrooms in the UK there is no power points. But there was a plug for electric shavers but the plug was on the opposite wall to the mirror.....solution - put a mirror right next to the shaver plug.
Kitchen was very good.
Booking - very confusing - two levels - the booking agent and the caretaker or contact person with the keys. Not all information about the booking is made up-front. Just before we left for Scotland we got an email saying we had to give all our details (again) and a deposit of 250 pounds. So make sure when you book you ask for ALL booking details.
Caretaker/keyman Dave was excellent.....showed us all the workings of the accommodation and where shops are etc.
Stockbridge has a good lot of shops and we had a fantastic dinner at Ridici's....Italian cuisine. Ridici is below street level and quite small....you need to book a table.
Be warned - Edinburgh is not flat - to walk into the CBD from Stockbridge is all uphill - it took us about 15 minutes to get to the CBD.
We had a great time in Edinburgh - two warm days of 28C

Thank you so much for taking your time to leave us a review and we are so glad that your enjoyed your stay in Edinburgh.
We do try to make the booking & check in process as simple as possible as we work alongside the concierge team who check our guests in on behalf of the apartment owners. The rental terms including damage deposit are listed on our website and TripAdvisor before you book, but we shall look into what we can do to make them more clear to guests and we apologise if this was in any way not made clear at the time of your booking.
We hope to welcome you to one of our lovely city centre self catering apartments again.
All the best -

“Perfect flat, beautifully appointed”

This flat perfectly met our needs. We were able to cook Christmas dinner for 6 family members, and we comfortably enjoyed the day. We love the location, with shops, restaurants, and cafes close by. And we appreciated the thoughtfulness put into the decor and lovely paintings. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

“Comfortable stay in Georgian elegance”
Reviewed 2 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The Georgian terraces of Edinburgh's New Town show the beauty and symmetry of what a planned community can be. The elegant neoclassicism of its squares and crescents is a true relief from hideous modernity. The Stockbridge area of the New Town has these terraces in abundance, along with some Victorian and even tastefully integrated 20th century replacements.

12 Carlton Street is a ground floor flat in one of these terraces. Some of the original features, including 12-foot ceilings, are intact, and modifications (e.g., bath and kitchen) have been tastefully accomplished. The bedroom looks out on a private garden (belonging to the basement flat) and is very comfortable. The efficiently designed kitchen is well-stocked with plates, cutlery, cooking utensils, toaster, etc. Excellent gas stove, a delight to cook on. On Sundays there is a weekly market one block away from which we got amazingly good local bread, fish, meat, and produce. For other essentials there is a Sainsbury's Local two blocks in the other direction, and a host of other shops and excellent restaurants in the neighborhood. It is a steep walk up to the main shopping area of the New Town, but bus service seems to be frequent and dependable. In the unit itself, the living room is large enough to adequately include a dining table, comfortable seating, tv, and radio.

In sum an extremely enjoyable experience. We hated to leave, and can't wait to return.

“Fabulous”
Reviewed 10 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

My husband and I stayed Carlton Street in March 2014. The apartment was spacious, beautifully decorated and a home away from home. Carton Street is in a great location with only a 10 minute walk to the heart of Edinburgh. We really enjoyed our stay here would love to live there.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay at Stockbridge Grandeur @ Carlton Street.

We agree that the location is great, encompassing the delights of Stockbridge but being so close to the city centre and main visitor attractions.
