Owner description: Hidden beneath the Royal Mile lies Edinburgh’s deepest secret: a warren of hidden ‘closes’ where real people lived, worked and died. For centuries they have lain forgotten and abandoned…until now. Visit Edinburgh's most famous Close, which makes Edinburgh's Hidden History unmissable.

Monday my mum and I went on the "Real Mary Kings Close"-tour with Adam as our guide. He is an amazing story teller and he took us through history with great entusiasm and entertainment. The history of the closes in Edinburgh was very interesting. Definitely worth a visit!

Travel in time, learn a lot about the history and feel how it was back in the days. Thesis a great experience. Be sure to book in advance as it may be full. There are many options during the day. Only down part is that its not possible to photograph. But great experience

I found this tour to be very interesting but claustrophobic. All of the facts were great and I learned a lot but was relieved when it was over.
We did have to pay and come back over an hour later so prepay if you can and save yourself some time because they sell out.

It’s not really scary, just historical and interesting. The groups are small and they do a very good job of explaining The Close and why it’s underground. We booked in advance and it appears they sell out. We did get there early, however they didnt allow us to go on an earlier tour..We had a lady with a cane in our group struggle to get around, there are stairs and uneven pavements..I suggest tennis shoes or something with a decent grip to them..

A great tour of several closes (narrow alleyways) that we’re covered over by buildings. You learn a lot about the city and how the lower class lived in these areas. Our whole family enjoyed it.
