The food was nice but the decaf cappucino was so weak I couldn’t taste the coffee. I asked about it and discovered that coffee pods are used for decaf. Surely a place of such a calibre can invest in really good decaf coffee from a packet, and make it to the same standard as caffeinated coffee.

We only stayed for one night at this lovely hotel and were very impressed. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant and bars very comfortable. Room was excellent and the little extras included (tea/coffee, biscuits, water, sweets and a bottle of champagne were very much appreciated and made us feel welcome. The attention to detail is great and I would recommend this hotel for a very relaxing stay in the Edinburgh area. Although not central it is only a short bus or taxi ride away for Edinburgh centre. Will definitely return and book several nights next time.

I was at the Prestonfield on Friday night for the Nordoff Robbins Sporting Awards.

This hotel is beautiful, both inside and out. Sheer indulgence, class and style. Enjoyed a drink in one of the hotel's bars before making our way over to the stables where the actual function was taking place.

Dinner was a salmon starter, a beef main course and a rhubarb and ice cream dessert. The food was fantastic, I enjoyed all three courses. An excellent night, staff were lovely and good entertainment, all in absolutely gorgeous surroundings.

I came here with friends for a festive evening meal. It was fabulous. The food, ambience, service and Christmas decor was perfect.

When we arrived we were stunned to be told that we had apparently cancelled our booking! We explained we hadn't and so they pulled out all the stops to accommodate us.

I loved the guys wearing kilts who welcomed us in. Nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful place.

We stayed in the Lord Provost Suite. Sumptuous grandeur at every turn.
Complimentary champagne; cookies; nibbles. Crisp fluffy towels and beautiful toiletries. Not one but two bathrooms!
Delicious food, treats and the most comfortable bed like that out of a fairytale. Nothing too much trouble for anyone of the wonderful staff and concierge team.
A sublime experience from start to finish that surpassed expectation.
