The history, the tombs - it's all very cool! This is a worthwhile visit for sure - doesn't disappoint!

Great to see right after Holyrood Palace. It is still gorgeous even as a ruin. Interesting to see the graves and coffins still there. Absolutely beautiful place.

Lovely ruined abbey attached to the Palace. Well worth the admission money alone.
Would recommend if you like history.

If you go to the palace, you have to spend the time to walk through here. Beautiful, picturesque. Haunting. The folks that work here are very knowledgeable and provide free guided tour.

This is one of several of Queen Elizabeth II's homes. It is open to the public (for a price) when she isn't there. Some would say, "If you've seen one castle, you've seen them all." Perhaps that's a rule of thumb but we found this very interesting in that it belongs to a living, reigning monarch. We are a couple in our mid-60s and have traveled to Europe now 57 times on holidays. We enjoyed our visit immensely. Plan and hour or so at a minimum and young children will probably not be very interested.
