Never seen a place run so unprofessionally which given the state of service in Scotland takes some beating. Took 30mins to get a fish supper on first visit with no management of any kind on sight including on opening week! Subsequent visits only reinforced the impression of a place where untrained and indifferent staffs are left to their own device;. The sight of the ‘Chef’ overtly flirting with very young female staff in plain view of customer is unwelcome in this day and age; a shame given the beautiful location and Leith growing number of interesting eatery. Ough well....

The restaurant looks great but the food just doesn't justify the prices.

A tenner will get you a scampi supper with four miserable tiny bits of scampi (which are mostly breadcrumbs anyway) and the chips were barely cooked. Haddock supper better value but swimming in grease and the tryhard gourmet curry sauce was bland and barely spiced with anything.

Very busy when we went but no excuse even if the poor lassie behind the counter looked like she was having a nightmare. I'm voting with my feet next time and leaving this place's fare for the seagulls to enjoy...

Have visited a couple of times now. Great setting and great food priced reasonably for Edinburgh.....but......
Service - some servers good others a bit abrupt.
Why do they serve on metal plates with paper on the bottom? Fish is a bit greasy with the result that the paper gets mushy and can be caught up in the food.
Better with nice crockery plates and not paper - let the fish drain a but more if the grease is a problem. Carry out did not seem to suffer so badly from grease.
Extra charge for tartare sauce - a bit much, better if they just included it in the overall price.
Hope they can make these improvements.
Overall will go back, just what this area needs.

Had a carry out fish and chips The girl who served us was a bit uninterested apart from saying enjoy as she handed our order We asked for salt and only got a tiny sprinkle on the top The fish and chips were a bit greasy and nothing special not worth £15.80 for 2 regular size - Not likely to go back

Heard a few good reviews so was looking forward to trying it. Went on a Fri at 330 for takeaway. Got a table outside in the sun. Waited bout 10 mins for the food to be cooked. Both ordered the medium supper for 8.50 each. Next time is probably go for small. Both enjoyed it batter was nice although wee bit greasy but most suppers are. Loads of chips although loads of wee crispy ones
I did enjoy it but nothing beats the anstruther and I thought 17 quid for two suppers was pretty steep.
