Visited this restaurant as part of a 3 day trip to Edinburgh and although we also visited a highly recommended restaurant and a Michelin starred one - this was the cheapest and the best of the bunch. the menu is fairly small, but I did not struggle to find more than one option - if you are the type who likes chips with everything this is not the place for you - they are not on the menu. If I had to criticize at all it would be that the service was very quick and the fabulous parfait did not come with any of the equally fabulous bread. however I would praise the food and the level of service - the table next to us had a food allergy which did not seem to phase them when mentioned. I would certainly recommend the restaurant but would look to find somewhere nearby for a pre dinner drink if wanted - noting that the restaurant is slightly off the main road and there is not anything in the immediate vicinity that caught our eye to have a drink in. Plenty on the main road though. Dress code is smart casual and the staff wear jeans so they would not be out of place on the clientele.
