“Small, and well proportioned.”
Reviewed 12 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Easy to find and very welcoming. The owners met us when we arrived and showed us around, explained how appliances worked and then left us to make a cup of tea and biscuits which with coffee had been left for us., also vase of flowers made it very friendly.Everything was clean. Bedclothes and towels were provided and as we stayed a fortnight, were changed halfway through our stay. The only small problem was an intermittent WiFi, but apart from that we had a very nice stay.

“Perfect, peaceful and everything you could ask for.....even dog friendly!!”

I booked this small cottage as it was in an area I wanted to see not been before and it accepted my dog! The cottage is small and cozy but has everything you could ask for. The bed it has to be said has the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on - wish I knew what is was!
The cottage is by a by-pass but you cannot hear any traffic noise. Dumfries is only 5 miles away and there is a huge Tesco in Castle Douglas too. Kirkcudbright has a great bakery and is near Brighouse Bay which has a lovely dog friendly beach!
Lots of walks for dogs in the Galloway Forest and a visit to the Red Kite feeding centre is worth a visit.
This cottage is a little gem. I will re book

My husband and I have just had a five night stay at Cargen cottage. The cottage is compact but provides everything you could possibly need for a quiet getaway. The hosts were welcoming and obviously care about their guests with lovely gestures of having fresh milk in the fridge,a selection of tea coffee and biscuits, and a lovely vase of fresh flowers. We originally come from tne area so it was very convenient to use as a base for visiting family. We would have no hesitation in using this cottage again and certainly recommend it .
