“Lovely stay in a wonderful property”
Reviewed 27 October 2015 for a stay in October 2014

Stayed in Branxholme Knowe for a week at the beginning of October, and we all had a wonderful stay. The property itself is a lovely old house full of character in an idyllic setting. There is a beautiful garden room with an open fire, perfect for lounging around in the evenings. The outdoor hot tub and barbecue hut were great fun. Would highly recommend

“Fantastic and beautiful house which is so much better than the photos”
Reviewed 23 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We all had a fabulous weekend at your beautiful house and the whole family absolutely loved the place. The Garden Room which seemed to be the room used the most, it was so spacious and cosy especially when the log burner was lit. and the hot tub went down exceptionally well with our Grandson.

Being local we just chilled out at the house, which was so easy to do and although we were a large party the house was so spacious that everyone could get time to themselves if they wanted.

We are already trying to plan for a visit next year.

“So good we could not find a house to match, so we came back for twice as long”
Reviewed 5 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

House and grounds are lovely, a great retreat.
Properties like these are few and far between to find.
Some of the forest had gone from last year but a HOT TUB and BBQ SHED made up for it.
They also came in handy with the wet weather.
Went to Holy Island, Go Ape and local towns.

Well organised, value for money.
Great place to spend time and relax with family and friends.

Thank you. It is great to hear you enjoyed your second visit as much as your first. We are looking forward to your third visit in July 2016!
The woodland area around the house is growing back slowly and will be replanted in early 2016. On the plus side it has let a lot of light into the house and surrounding area and the hot tub is great at night as a result!
We look forward to your next stay. Kind regards, Ian & Sally

This house is absolutely stunning. A very well maintained period home with original features complementing the new upgraded bathrooms and decor. We were bowled over by the size of the house and the beautiful gardens. The bedrooms are all large, the beds are amazingly comfy and quiet. We had five children with us and if you were upstairs (attempting a lie in!) you couldn't hear them causing havoc downstairs...bonus! They settled well on an evening and the period style shutters on the windows were great, preventing early risers. The bathrooms very sizeable and again modern, we preferred the shower downstairs as it was more powerful but they were all fine.

We didn't use the dining room or downstairs bedroom but we did use the lounge for DVD time. (The downstairs bathroom and bedroom make this house ideal for wheel chair users).

We spent most of our time in the large conservatory, we ate our meals on the large bench style table. The log fire was lovely in the evening, watching the bird life from our chairs with the fire ricking....heaven.

The children were aged 3 to 6, they loved exploring the hedge maze, stable area, watching the fish in the secure pond and were in the hot tub every day. We could see them at all times and felt they were safe. They loved playing hide and seek and exploring the many rooms in the house too! The stairway and banisters were fine also for our kids. We ventured out of the gate into the fields, they loved collecting wood and kindling. The trees that have been felled are a positive as the views are breathtaking now.

The washer, dryer and dish washer were a godsend. The washer did break down but the owners were quick to solve the problem for us, such a lovely family and easy to reach if required.

We used the BBQ hut which was quite exciting, though once was enough as it needed a good clean after cooking on it for 9 people!

We ate out at Bert's Pub in Melrose which was quite pricey and seemed quite formal but well worth the money and a lovely, typically Scottish Hotel. We also used the local swimming pool with the inflatable session which was great for the kids. The local park is lovely and the shops are a must, especially the butchers....supplies for the BBQ hut! Galashiels is a lovely town, we did a good shop and visited the coffee house in the tourist centre.
We spent a day park and ride to Edinburgh, well worth a day there though we didn't go in the castle as it was a little too pricey for us so we stuck with an open top bus tour which was exciting for the kids.
Our last day we crossed over the border to Bamburgh Castle and also over the causeway to Lindisfarne on the Holy Island. Breathtaking to say the least.

This is one of the best holidays we have ever had, we stayed with our friends from Perth-Australia and they were blown away. We will certainly return without a doubt.
