We went to Stornoway for a trip over and back on the return boat. The trip was excellent from the friendly staff in the ticket office to the pleasant staff on the ferry. The Loch Seaford is a beautiful boat with lots of sitting areas with very comfy seats. The boat was extremely clean and kept that way by efficient staff. We had lunch on board and this was delicious. Overall this was an excellent experience.

You buy your tickets to Mull from the Calmac ferry terminal. You need to be aboard as a foot passenger 10 minutes before departure.
If you are taking a car check the rules.
Foot or car it’s easy and worthwhile.

We went yesterday as foot passengers. The weather was astonishing. We didn’t get off at Craignure as we knew there wasn’t any ccommodation on Mull.

The sailing on the Maid of Mull takes 45 minutes from noisy Oban to paradise. We sat still for the outward and inbound trip. We saw the Inner Hebrides in all their glory. It was a memorable trip.
CalMac run a tight ship. There are 4 decks on the M of Mull. There are catering outlets but yesterday most people just stared open mouthed at the scenery.
I would do it again tomorrow.
We came back and went straight on to Rightmove.

One of our party needed a lift to the upper decks. The organisation to get our car near the lift on the car deck was perfection both ways. The staff were so good you felt you were in very experienced safe hands. Sorry to say this but the coffee was not good.

We walked down the hill from our charming Oban Airbnb to catch the mid morning ferry to the Isle of Mull. We had called last minute and we're happy to get on board. Modern, comfortable ferry blissfully free of piped-in music. Lots of food and beverage choices. Most importantly are the unbelievable views of the green and rugged Hebrides. Breathtaking. The crossing is about 45 minutes. We were met by a West Coast Motor tour bus and the magnificent "Sheila" who would drive us across the island for a short ferry ride to the island of Iona. Sheila was born on Mull and told us intriguing and touching stories of Mull life spanning centuries. Her masterful and neighborly maneuvering of the big bus along the single track road along with her engaging storytelling made the 1.25 cross island trip fly by. The Iona ferry ride is 10 minutes long and deposits you in a tiny town with more incredible views, great walking and enticing "pod" camping. We spent 2 enjoyable hours meandering and could have spent more. All in all a great value, car free and made memorable by a wonderful and kind coach driver named Sheila.
