Visited this lovely establishment more than once during our stay in Oban. The Oban fish and chip shop is a take-away plus restaurant, we sat in and had take-out during our stay and both options where great. Staff where very friendly and helpful, our food was served quickly and was very tasty indeed. We had the traditional cod and haddock fish and chips on our first visit, the portions of both where large and the fish in particular was beautiful it was hard on our other visits not to choose the same. On our second visit I had the Fish Pie which takes a little longer but my goodness it's well worth the extra time, the mashed potato on the top was creamy and more importantly it had no lumps, sauce was silky and creamy with perfect seasoning the amount of fish was just right, it also came with peas which I unexpectedly find myself praising after all a pea is just a pea, but it was very hard to tell if these where fresh peas or frozen I was going to ask but when we left the restaurant it was very busy so I did not get the chance to ask. For lunch one day we had take-out Oban Bay Chowder with crusty bread this is made fresh to their own recipe and contained smoked haddock, cod, leeks, potato, dill and cream, it's the best chowder I have ever tasted. We only managed a dessert once which was the sticky toffee pudding served with cream or ice cream, I had it with ice cream, the pudding was really delicious and not to heavy or sweet and ended our meal perfectly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this establishment if your wanting freshly cooked traditional tasty food and after our boat trips that's just what we wanted and needed.

They had a tempura special the night we were there, excellent. It's standard fish and chips fare, but perfectly prepared. Service was quick. Seating is limited, many folks used take-out for their food.

Visited this very good fish and chip establishment before going to the Isle of Barra, and after arriving in Oban once more. Excellent quality fish and chips. Would recommend the cod over the haddock as the fish is nice thick and fleshy. Talked to the owner about her business and was glad to know that she does tour the best fish and chip shops all over Scotland to judge her competitors. Fish and chips well up there with Anstruther, Nairn and other award winning shops. Only slight issue is the cost. Kind of on the pricey end for sitting in and take-a-way. But at least, one will be very happy with what they eat. Crispy delicious batter, dry grease free chips with a fluffy centre. Will certainly be back. Now a 'top' chippy of mine.

Big food portion for a reasonable price, fish fillet is fried to perfection, and battered haggis is unexpectedly yummy. Quick and efficient service too. Would recommend for people looking for local food.

We had been told this was the best fish and chip shop, which was confirmed with a recommendation by the landlady of our B&B. The cod and the haddock were both cooked to perfection in a surprisingly light crispy batter. Beware! The large portion is just that.. large (but great value!).
Tables came available quite quickly on both Thursday and Friday evening (yes it was so good we made a return visit). Also, they happily provide glasses for your own wine/beer.
