I was initially put off by the appearance of the bunkhouse (appears to have been a care home in a past life) however it was very clean, the kitchen and communal areas were very clean and there was plenty of space for our 2 families to eat together for breakfast. Another plus point was how cheap it was (cheaper to book direct than with AirBnB when we extended our stay).

We also ate in the restaurant - the food was good although the restaurant was very quiet and the mix of different menus around (although only seemed to be 1 available) and special offers that we did not appear to be entitled to was confusing.

The best thing about Lunan Bay Stays however was the location. The house itself has lovely gardens and it is right next to the beautiful beach and sand dunes. I am certain we will be back.

They Love the campsite and beach .. Basic and freindly
Scenery and beach are ideal for children to play and adults to chill.
On the 3 occasions we have been there this year sadly on every occasion let down by Dogs on the beach... Not just 1 or 2 dogs sometimes dozens at a time in alleged controlled groups... If they are controlled then why are they wandering about able to urinate on childrens sand castles etc... i know the site owners have no control over the beach im just saying it is a let down always...

On the positive side this country hotel is stunning and in a beautiful location. We had a beautiful room and everything that we could need including hairdryer and fan, which was a godsend on such a beautifully hot weekend. The young lady who greeted us had a lovely disposition and provided all the information we needed before leaving us to settle in.

I hate to say anything negative about the hotel but the purpose of reviews is to help
improvement and the dining area was the only let down. The food itself was well cooked but the wait for food was too long, especially when there were only 2 tables to deal with. I appreciate everything is probably cooked to order but I could have produced the same in less than half the time. I hate to think how the kitchen would have coped had the restaurant been full.

Breakfast was a let down. The menus contains items that contain eggs, such as scrambled egg and salmon, poached egg on hash brown, full English/Scottish breakfast and omelettes but they had run out of eggs! We therefore had no choice but to take the full breakfast without eggs. This was really disappointing as I would have done without everything else to get an egg. The quality of the breakfast was good and It was not any old black pudding but Stornaway so that helped make up for the lost egg a little.

I hope the hotel will not be offended by my comments regarding dining. I have provided them to help them improve and make sure they don’t run out of eggs again for my return trip as we will definitely be back.

We stayed for a weekend in the Lunan Guest House and found the rooms very comfortable and attractively furnished with good en suite facilities. Staff were helpful and friendly and the food in the restaurant on both Friday and Saturday evening excellent. The location is the great plus. The hotel grounds are charming in themselves, but the nearby Lunan Bay beach is absolutely stunning and great for walks and swimming if you can face the temperature of the North Sea. Lunan Stays also incorporates a Bunkhouse, Diner and camp site. This review refers to the hotel itself.

Stayed at Lunan Bay guest house and it was great, more like a boutique hotel than a guesthouse. Short walk to one of the Bonnies beaches in Scotland . Food was great with loads of outside space for kids to run around
