Great weekend. So relaxing, peatfire wonderful, very romantic.
Sheila very helpful & welcoming....
Loved it! Will be back.
Just spent a weekend here. Cottage is very nicely decorated, cosy and comfy. The selling point is the view though, you could look out at that sea all day, very busy with boats and you can see ovet to Peterhead harbour. There is lots to do in the area: we walked to a beach just short of Peterhead, went to Cruden bay and Slaines castle. There is still plenty more to do in the area so we hope to return soon.

Stayed in dundonnie cottage and loved it. Warmly welcomed and told lots of lovely walks and beaches, most of which we followed up on. Was great to get insider tips. The island is perfect for family or romantic holidays and the peat fire could give either ambience. Loved the modern yet traditional decor and the place was equipped with everything you could need.
Thoroughly recommend buchan ness, in fact already have and are already looking to go back.

Stayed in the sister cottage, Dundonnie cottage whilst visiting family and what a fabulous place with fantastic views. Its home from home with everything you could want even down to cookery books and board games. Very comfortable place , warm and cosy, we were almost disappointed not to experience a storm , only to see an even more spectacular sight with waves crashing onto the island.
A beautiful place to wander and explore the local community and small harbour, also as a base for the surrounding area.
The cottage is so quiet and peaceful and even has decking to be able to sit outside and watch the world pass by !.while listening to the seagulls and seals calling to each other.
We will definitely be back hopefully in the summer.

This is a beautifully appointed original lighthouse cottage designed by Robert Stevenson and built in 1827. Buchan Ness is a little island attached to the village of Boddam by an iron bridge. Boddam is situated about 2 miles south of Peterhead in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The lighthouse and cottages are surrounded by a substantial granite wall which helps protect it during the occasional north sea storms. It is gated which means you have a quite private holiday experience, despite being on the edge of a village and only two miles from a substantial town. The owner is an excellent host who certainly went out of her way to ensure our welcome was personal and memorable. The cottage is warm and cozy despite its age and beautifully set out. Good sized kitchen and dining area and great bedrooms. Views out to sea are always interesting and we had storms as well as bright sunny days. The wider area has interests for all, with Aberdeen good for shopping, great little fishing villages dotted around the coast and inland, a wide arc of little towns with loads to keep you well fed and watered.
Well worth its 4 Stars and highly recommended.
