“Charming cottage in beautiful coastal location”
Reviewed 18 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage, on the coastal road but still close to the center of Aberdeen. Jeremy met us for check in, and was a mine of interesting information on the history of the lighthouse. The property was spotless and well maintained, fixtures were high quality, and had all the amenities our family needed.

“Glorious coastal isolation 10 mins from the City Centre”

We were really looking forward to our stay in Aberdeenshire and this delightful cottage did not disappoint. Snug within the walls of Girdleness Lighthouse this former engine room has been delightfully converted into a superb 2 bedroom cottage complete with all mod cons including broadband and Sky if you wish to stay connected (as our teenage daughter always does!). We were greeted by the owner on arrival and shown the ropes - Jeremy is a delightful chap, passionate about Aberdeen and very knowledgeable about the area, its history and economy. The location is second to none - you get the isolation of the lighthouse out on the coast and yet are only 10 mins drive from the centre of Aberdeen. This cottage is "B" grade - the others at the lighthouse are "A" grade - no 2 has just been finished and we were shown around to see the delightful quality and superb finish. Cant recommend the place highly enough - and Waitress will deliver to here from Stirling!! (One of the other cottage guests made use of this which is how we found out but there are supermarkets within 10 mins drive!). Fantastic views across the estuary and the Aberdeen skyline make the location complete.

Booked a week, would have loved to extend the trip.
Met the owner to receive the keys and right away knew this was going to be a great stay.
A open, helpful and honest man. It's great to see that there are still people out there that are willing to invest both time and money in taking care of places like this.
The cottage itself was warm and cosy, everything worked and with wood floors, period sinks and fittings made the rooms just that little bit more special.
Wifi and TV was great which will keep teens happy.
A few minutes drive from the city center with all that has to offer.
A fantastic week was had by all and next time we are in Aberdeen, this is where you will find us!

“Fabulous”
Reviewed 6 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We just loved the lighthouse cottage. Right from the booking everything was very efficient as we needed to make sure there was no feathered bedding. The owner met us and was very friendly and welcoming. The cottage was very clean and cosy and very quaint. We loved the roll top bath and the belfast sink as well as the pulleys to put washing. I would recommend the cottage and would certainly return.

“Lovely Cottage and Great Sea Facing Location”

The owner warmly welcomed us to the Lighthouse Cottage was extremely helpful throughout the entire visit. The quality of furnishings and fixtures and fittings was to a high standard throughout and the beds were very comfortable indeed. The kitchen was very spacious and the utensils and crockery adequate to use. We especially enjoyed walking along the sea paths by the lighthouse as the weather was particularly windy (gale force at times it seemed), and exploring the rock formations in the immediate area. All in all, a very enjoyable stay and we would definately return in the future.
