Review of Legananny Dolmen

Reviewed 2 July 2017

The journey, is as impressive as the destination..gorgeous rolling hills, amazing and unique scenery, on very narrow roads..well off the beaten track..maps and signposting wont get you back to anywhere recognizable...travelled 40 miles ended up back in the same place...though all gorgeous...no hurry...sat. nav. a must!

While we were in Newcastle we decided to have a look at this
According to our sat nav it was 20 minutes from the hotel
It takes quite a bit longer but to be honest its worth the visit as its been here for 4000 years
We realise its no huge but it must have take quite some effort to make it
Go and see it

The dolmen at Legananny is free to visit. There is a lay by for free parking on the road side and a two minutes walk takes you up to the ancient burial site. It is a very photogenic site & on the day that we visited the surrounding hills were topped with snow. Magical!

This really is an amazing sight...You will need to park at the Dolmen's small lay by and walk for about 5 minutes to see the Dolmen. You really do not want to miss it. Over 4000 years old! Make sure you wear shoes suitable for wet ground and dress in layers as it can be windy and cold on a good day!

If you follow the signs you will get there.....build it and they will come.....the dolmen rocks...you could fit a small animal under it...perhaps a medium sized dog, not one of them big ones you see down the town pulling on the leads but a nice gentle one.
