This is a regular place for us to walk. Apart from the lake walk which is about 2.4 miles, try Slieve na Slat which is a bit more demanding. Add ons include the Annesley gardens and arboretum which are really pretty. We tried the maze once and thought we were never going to get out! Haven't tried it since!
This park is used by mountain bikers and water sports enthusiasts.
There is ample car parking and good toilet facilities. A small coffee shop operates during summer months. It is a beautiful place to spend a day and is popular with families. Do recommend highly.

We had a lovely run out today to Castlewellan Forest Park. The weather was perfect for it too. Price was very good, £5 per car. Lots of families having picnics. People on walks with their dogs. Canoes out on the lake and lots of people fishing. My husband and I enjoyed the Peace Maze. Quite tricky to find our way out again but we got there in the end. There's also a children's play park right beside the maze. I would suggest taking a change of footwear if you intend going on the forest walks as the paths can be very wet and muddy. Really enjoyed today, we'll definitely be back again.

This is a great spot to take the dogs for a good walk or just to get away from it all for a while

You have a maze to keep the kids busy

£5 entrance fee not bad as you can spend the day. However if you live local getting a year pass is better value as in 10 trips you have the value of pass back and the rest of the year for free plus you can visit all forest parks in Northern Ireland also

I bought my sons and nephew (10,9,6) for a day out. We were blown away by the maze. It took us about an hour to complete and we had a picnic in the park and enjoyed a short play in the playground, it’s probably more suited to younger kids.

Cold crisp day when I visited, but dry.
Easy to park in the large Car Park, with Toilets, and then decide on where to go - there are Bikes for Hire, the Castle is close by , but cant be visited as it is still a private home, there are the Annesley Gardens, and the Lake, which can be walked around, and the Maze is remarkable as it has matured, and is a challenge to get out of even if you have been before.
Wonderful Park at Castlewellan, always well maintained, and spacious, and the variety of activities draws in plenty of visitors.
