We’ve always wondered what was opposite Cardiff Bay, so when a local told us we could walk along the barrage to Penarth, we decided to give it a go. It wasn’t the best weather, windy and rainy, but we wrapped up well. It is a lovely, bracing walk with great views of the bay. There is a Ronald Dahl enormous crocodile bench about half way round, a good stopping place and photo opportunity. Penarth is completely different from Cardiff and has its own stunning views, as the town centre is really high up. There is a marina and, apparently, a pier, although we didn’t make it that far. There are 2 train stations in Penarth so you can get a train back to either the bay or the city centre.
