“Lovely, but a little tired”

The house is amazing, the scenery is beautiful and the village pub is fab. Location perfect
Unfortunately it was not clean when he stayed there. It made the place feel tired like it needed a bit of care.
The kitchen is a bizarre layout and for a house of its size is missing key things like oven trays, potato masher and spatulas
The beds were comfy, the hot tub great, but the tv seating area is not big enough for the amount of people it can house. The wi fi is advertised but rubbish and only worked for a few hours during our week. The outdoor pond feature is not enclosed and dangerous for toddlers

Management Response
9 Oct 2014
We appreciate all reviews and are grateful for the positive comments in this review however we were very disappointed to receive the negative comments which are in contrast to other reviews.

Firstly the house is family run. There are two mobile numbers provided and it is sited on our farm so there is usually someone not too far away to resolve issues or answer questions if necessary. None of the issues in this review were raised to us so we were unable to resolve during the stay.
1) We clean the house extensively between each stay and thoroughly check the property before the next guests arrive. We would have happily resolved any specific issues if they had been raised.
2) The kitchen layout is pretty standard and is Magnet designed. There are several oven trays and a masher, spatula's etc. as you might expect. We'd have been happy to help the guests find these.
3) The TV area criticism is warranted. The sofa can seat six and there are bean bags for the remainder. Not ideal with certain configurations if everyone wishes to watch TV at the same time. However, this is hopefully not often an issue and hasn't been a comment previously.
4) Wi-fi is as reliable as any rural area. A consistent service is provided on PlusNet and the speed test is usually around 5.6mbs.
5) There is a pond in the garden, which is around 40cm deep, and we do make guests aware that this may be an issue with children. It directly adjoins the house and has ceiling to floor windows overlooking it so is well visible from inside the house and also from the garden providing safety. We have in the past put a barrier up around the pond if it has been of special concern to a guest.

“Fantastic!!!”
Reviewed 12 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Went with 6 other girl friends, we had a great time! The place was huge and all the rooms were lovely! The view outside was breathtaking and the hot tub was great too! It was the perfect place to hang out with friends. It also had all the cooking tools you could ever need! The ice dispenser on the fridge was also particularly useful. Local pubs just a few minutes walk away. Cannot fault the place in all honesty. If you want to get the 'wow factor' this
Place is definately for you!

“Fun family get together”
Reviewed 8 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We stayed at the Glass House for a family get together (6 adults, 1 child) over the bank holiday weekend. Excellent location for outdoor activities. Highly recommend Ellesmere Riding Centre, Wye Valley Canoes and a walk up Pen-Y-Van followed by cocktails in the hot-tub! The house is spacious with a lovely outside area looking out over the hills and good cooking facilities for evening meals and a dance. There are two local pubs within walking distance in the village. We ate at the Castle Inn which had a busy, friendly atmosphere and a good selection of pies!
We had a great weekend and I hate to bring up negatives however the house was very hot so quite uncomfortable at night. It would have been good to be able to open more windows or have fans in the bedrooms. There was a lot of cobwebs and dust around the house and chipped crockery - a bit more attention to detail needed to be rated 5* but overall a great weekend.

“Grown up luxury away from the kids!”
Reviewed 28 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We were 4 female friends on a walking weekend away from the kids. Loads of space everywhere - no-one had the "poor relation" room and a bathroom each! Brilliantly equipped. We didn't cook but it looked like we'd have everything we needed in the kitchen. An extra utility room was great and the entrance porch was a great dumping ground for wet kit away without cluttering up bedrooms or the main living area. Had we had the kids, the extra lunge would have been a bonus. The field outside was full of (tame) lambs who were just too cute for words (until they stalked me and ate my boots). We tried both pubs in the village and would recommend them both. Unfortunately our weekend stay meant we missed the onsite brewery. Aswell as the classic Pen Y Fan circuit, we also did the Waterfalls Walk near Pontneddfechan and visited the Penderyn Distillery (but book ahead for the tour). We'll be back...!

“Amazing relaxing weekend in luxury”
Reviewed 25 March 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We were all very impressed with the accomodation!

There was nothing to fault other than it took us some time to figure out how to work the hot tub! But once we got it going it was superb!

The rooms are beautiful. The decor is light and airy and we all cannot wait to return!
