The only reason we came to Wales was to experience a trip on the aqueduct finally found the point of departure, (very badly signed if at all) at @1.30pm Told there were NO MORE trips that day. Could not believe it,advertise on the hour till 4pm and on a Sunday as well. Were told that the next trip was 10am Monday, this did not suit as we were travelling on to England However a bus was arriving as these two disappointed Australian tourists left. So much for tourism.

It was hard to find the old wharf, but we persevered and were glad we did. Took "Tommy" the Jones Boat the 45 minute return trip across the Telford's Pontcysyllte Aquaduct. We had booked in advance, but as it happened, we were the only passengers so were treated to a personalised tour by the knowledgeable Peter Jones at the pointy end of the boat while his son navigated from the other end. What a delightful trip.

I took a chance on a trip without booking and was in luck! Friendly and informative lady, ready to answer any questions. Nice day giving a clear view, all the way down. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Many thanks.

We visited in our Motor home Llanberis last weekend , and what a lovely drive through the mountains . We phoned on Sunday to book with Jones the Boats a trip on the Llangollen Canal , crossing the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct . On booking we asked whether there was anywhere to eat , and the Lady said that they had had a cancellation for lunch on the canal boat trip . We immediately booked . Apparently there is quite a few weeks waiting list for this trip. We were so pleased we did . There were white linen cloths on the table with fresh yellow roses . We had a beef dinner with Yorkshire Pudding , new potatoes , roast , carrots and runner beans served separately. It was delicious . Apple pie and custard for pudding . The service with two young girls was impeccable. The chef and who cooked our meals , was also our commentator of the history of the canal . We were so impressed by the overall service and presentation. If up there again , we would certainly book for another Sunday Lunch !
