- we hired a boat for a 90th birthday celebration and the staff of Jones the Boats couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly
- there is a lovely cafe in the boatyard serving hot/cold drinks & snacks with views to the canal whilst you await boarding the boat
- toilets were very clean
- car parking a short walk away (2 or 3 mins) for about 100 cars but also parking right outside cafe for about 10 cars - ideal for disabled
- the meal onboard was excellent considering the size of the boat kitchen..we had a full roast dinner & pudding and the serving sizes were very good with ample food.
- there is a bar on board with a limited supply of drinks but the most popular drinks are available eg G&T, whiskey, vodka, Bacardi, wine, fruit juices etc
- there is a toilet on board
- the tables each seat 2 and there were about 10 tables...approx price £300 for the whole boat & 2 course meal...excellent value
- there is an area at the front of the boat which is open where fantastic views can be had, especially going over the aqueduct
- the pilot of the boat was very experienced and safe and gives running commentary as you go along
- trip takes about 2-21/2 hrs...half way to Llangollen & then back over the aqueduct
- thoroughly recommend

We took the 45 minute return trip aboard "Eirlys" from Trevor wharf over Telfords amazing aqueduct. We reserved our places in advance and paid on arrival. Sunny weather certainly added to our enjoyment of the trip but in addition the staff were friendly and the on board commentary was informative and fun. Peter even managed to get my octogenarian parents on board with ease. The trip has stunning views from the wharf, on the canal and particularly as we travelled over the aqueduct. A superb day out, not to be missed- cameras at the ready!
(Large car park nearby. Portacabin toilets on the wharf. Bar on board.)

Had a lovely 3 days break in Chester, Llandudno & Conwy at Spring Bank, thoroughly enjoyed everything we did until we decided to go on a canal boat trip over the aqueduct. Our 1st impression of the cafe & toilets area was it's a bit shabby & in portacabins, it doesn't look that promising. When we got on the boat the seating area is very cramped & because it was a very hot day, despite all the windows being open it felt quite stuffy. We were on the 45 min trip over the aqueduct but it felt like we hardly went anywhere as the boats have to wait to cross one by one, they can't help this as it's so narrow here but I thought you would go a bit further. My main disappointment was obviously the best views are from the small outdoor seating area which seats about 6, the lady doing the commentary asked everyone to share this area throughout the trip. Huh ! You've got no chance when the same people sit there for the duration, selfishly oblivious to anyone else wanting to see the view outside.Plus there's so many tall trees have grown at the sides of the canal that that's all you can see apart from over the river section. Frankly we wish we'd just walked over the aqueduct so we could see the view such as it is for free instead of paying £20 for 2 adults & a child to be cramped up on a canal boat fuming at the selfish attitude of some passengers.
