It was a lovely cottage very cosy, clean and homely, my 5 year son loved the hobbit door and was very happy in his bedroom. The garden was great for for my dogs as it was safe and they couldn't get out so I didn't have to worry about them - they loved it too!! The only thing I would say is there is no outside tap which would be useful with the dogs, also the shower pressure was a bit of an issue. It was great for walking and and the views were beautiful, very peaceful and relaxing.
We stayed in this beautiful barn conversion for 3 nights and appreciated the cottage itself and the impressive surroundings. The cottage is full of character and very well-equipped (including full kitchen with fridge/freezer, oven, microwave, hob, dishwasher, all utensils) and we appreciated the owners setting up a cot and highchair for our 9-month-old daughter. It was a bonus to have a proper cot rather than a travel one. For others with children, look in the cupboards in the living room - there are great toys including a train set that will probably appeal to many adults too!
The owners don't live on site but were around over the weekend and were very helpful and friendly in communication ahead of time and then in person.
The cottage is set in beautiful surroundings, although note you will need a car and there are no shops etc within walking distance (plenty within an easy drive though). You can do a lovely riverside walk along an old tramway by walking a short distance along the road away from Pandy, taking the small slip road off to the left, and then following public footpath signs. There is also a small garden to the front of the cottage and a large field to the rear.
We found everything to be clean and well maintained.
As others have noted, the upstairs layout is unusual in that you access the main bedroom from one set of stairs (and these are open to the living room) and the bathroom and children's bedroom from a different set. There is a half-height door between the two bedrooms that can be shut off if not needed.
We have just returned from a 7 night stay here and have to say it was wonderful. It was our first holiday bringing our 3 month old baby away. On arrival to the cottage, we grateful for the tea, coffee and biscuits that had been left. The cottage was very clean, and had everything and more that we needed for our stay. I am usually very fussy about cleanliness but was more than happy with the standard. Plenty of logs were provided for the fire which was lovely. Sky TV and wifi were available, no problems at all with the signal. We cooked at the cottage a few nights and the kitchen is very well stocked. A cot was available if needed (we didn't as we brought our own) and a baby bath was left out for us, which we used. The surrounding area was breathtaking with lovely walks and views by the river running close to the cottage. Further out, we had days out including the Ffestiniog steam railway, Portmerion, the aquaduct, Llangollen steam train (wonderful walk and views in Carrog, and a lovely pub called the Grouse served us with delicious food there) we ate at the Cornmill (Llangollen centre) over looking the river (gorgeous food and views) and also the Hand (about 3 miles away) - food amazing. We would definitely recommend all these places and the cottage and will definitely return at some point. If you book here, I hope you have a great time like we did
