“Cosy, comfortable cottage.”
Reviewed 7 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

Great service given by the family running the property. Very clean cottage with most amenities except washing machine (though the owner will do washing at GBP1 per load). Quiet, safe location with easy access to Abergavenny and surrounding areas. The one slight downside is that it is a smaller cottage with combined living/eating/kitchen but it is well designed to still fit everything in.

Thanks kate and liz for a lovely week in your cottage.
Cottage very warm and cosy with all mod cons. So peaceful and quiet we all slept so well.
Conveniently placed for visits.

“Lovely hosts, fabulous hospitality, great cottage.”
Reviewed 21 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Kate and her family were the most wonderful hosts to our family in their delightful cottage attached to the Old Rectory.

We were travelling with our young children, 8 and 3. Kate's daughter was wonderful company for our little girl and immediately took her under her wing and they spent the next two days playing happily in the garden and surrounding fields.

The short walk across the field to the Usk is lovely, strolling down the banks and skimming stones passed several idyllic hours.

The cottage itself is compact, very clean and has everything that you need for a family of 4 to lay over and sample the delights of the surrounding countryside for a few days. We took in canoeing on the river Wye along with assorted activities in the Forest of Dean.

“Lovely cottage and location”
Reviewed 8 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Really nicely presented cottage, quite compact but perfect for small families. Idyllic walks along the Usk and farmland. Most of all the hosts Kate and Liz were so welcoming and gave us lots of ideas for activities as well as plenty of toys for the 1.5 year old. The eggs were delicious too!

“What a find! Fantastic accommodation and the warmest of welcomes.”

We had struggled to find rooms for the Saturday night, as we hadn't realised it was the same weekend as the Abergavenny food festival, We extended our stay to two nights and drove down from Yorkshire on a Friday afternoon to be greeted with fresh home made bread, eggs from their own chickens and milk in the fridge. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble.
The (self-catering) accommodation is lovely - a double room and a room with full sized bunk beds, and a compact kitchen/lounge, well equipped and very comfortable. The location is great - a couple of miles or so from Abergavenny, set in the most beautiful countryside, which we would have loved to explore but aside from the food festival (lots of food and alcohol to sample!) Cardiff was our focus as we were dropping our son off at uni, a 30 minute drive away.
Should we need to stay down again, this will be our first port of call - a real winner.
