A central location very close to Foregate Street railway station.
The staff were very polite and helpful with the exception of the Receptionist who checked us in, regret that she was brusque to the point of incivility.
The outside temperature tipped 30C but our room in the back building had no air conditioning (only rooms at he front of the hotel had that we were told latterly but this isn’t mentioned at the booking stage) and the fan on the dressing table didn’t quite cut it, it was just too hot. There was no, even small refrigerator, in the room to keep medicines cool. Really bad!
By far the worst thing was the (sea)gulls. They were huge, incessantly noisy and very messy. There are just too many eating establishments in the City centre (there never used to be) and of course gulls are known scavengers particularly of left over food. We are also certain that the covered way between the two buildings (front and back) didn’t help, because the very bright lights were always on at night giving the gulls clear places to settle, play, fight and generally make mayhem.
I was sad to leave the City where I was born and spent my teenage years but in truth, I am glad to be back home under the Heathrow fight path, give me a Jumbo Jet any day.More
