It was quite busy and loud when we walked in one Saturday evening around 8 o'clock and we worried we were too late for dinner.
We shouldn't have worried though.
The service was good - attentive without being pushy, as we chatted and forgot to look at the menu for quite some time!
Drinks came quickly and met the criteria - clean glasses, cold and what we had ordered ☺
It's unusual in this part of the country to find a vegan option on a pub menu -but the grilled portobello mushroom burger fit the bill nicely and the chips were great.
My dinner partner's gammon was 'the best he had ever had, absolutely delicious'.
There weren't any suitable puddings sadly -one vegan and one dairy and wheat intolerant diner is too challenging for almost all country dining spots in my experience.
At around 9pm the pub emptied -it was quite surreal, but our server assured us that this was the usual turn of events on a Saturday night!
All in all a very pleasant evening with good food and a very reasonable bill at the end.

Came to a village pub with the expectation of good honest food and a warm welcoming feeling. This was ANYTHING but what we were given.

We asked if we could buy a round of drinks before our meal that was under £10. The landlord refused to generate any kind of tab to add it to our meal and flatly refused to accept anything under a minimum £10 card spend. ARE WE LIVING IN 2001?

Service with a smile was delivered by the young members of staff but not from the owners/management. Terrible example set.

The food was as you would expect, however the whole place inside felt like it needs a lick of paint and a damn good clean!

Everything felt too much trouble for the owner/landlady, and felt undervalued as a customer. Won’t be coming back!

This was the first time my mum had decided she wanted to eat out Christmas , So I suggested the gardeners as been before , we ordered in advance and what I have to say is you will be hard pressed to find anywhere in the county may be in the country to get the value for money with the fantastic quality of food (not Michelin’s star but good old fashioned proper fresh country cooked food)

We loved the turkey and the beef main courses, the starters and desserts were fab especially baileys cheesecake and Xmas pudding . I will be back next year all being well and this is by far the best place to have Xmas dinner

Outside this looks to be a pretty country pub but inside it was dingy. It was very quiet and although the barmaid was friendly enough there was little atmosphere or welcoming feel. The lunch is a good price - BUT the small fish and chips was tasty but the fish was very small and there was only a spoonful of peas and the roast dinner was ok, but liked as though everything had just been reheated as the veg were rather limp and potatoes soggy.
It was ok, but nothing special.
