It was quite busy and loud when we walked in one Saturday evening around 8 o'clock and we worried we were too late for dinner.
We shouldn't have worried though.
The service was good - attentive without being pushy, as we chatted and forgot to look at the menu for quite some time!
Drinks came quickly and met the criteria - clean glasses, cold and what we had ordered ☺
It's unusual in this part of the country to find a vegan option on a pub menu -but the grilled portobello mushroom burger fit the bill nicely and the chips were great.
My dinner partner's gammon was 'the best he had ever had, absolutely delicious'.
There weren't any suitable puddings sadly -one vegan and one dairy and wheat intolerant diner is too challenging for almost all country dining spots in my experience.
At around 9pm the pub emptied -it was quite surreal, but our server assured us that this was the usual turn of events on a Saturday night!
All in all a very pleasant evening with good food and a very reasonable bill at the end.
