Owner description: Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most well-loved family attractions in Leeds and only three miles from the city centre. At Tropical World you can take a trek through the rainforest; stopping off briefly in the outback of Australia before a quick excursion through the desert, and all in the same morning! It is home to some old friends that include rare birds, crocodiles, butterflies, bats, spiders, snakes and the meerkats - the cutest family in Leeds. It re-opened in March 2015. This follows some stunning renovations that include the aquarium area transformed into a new Amazon themed zone where you can see new residents including piranhas and salamanders.

This place is fantastic, all the nieces and nephews loved it and I plan on going again with my other half! There's so much to look around only down side is its absolutely boiling for the animals so don't go in a jumper!

Visited some time ago and enjoyed thoroughly.
Nice way to spend some spare time. Not hard to get to and get to have some fun.

We travelled here after trying to find somewhere for the grandchildren to be entertained for a afternoon. Never again, as it was so hot we all just melted in the heat. Clearly this is not there fault but I wouldn't advise going into Tropical World on a hot sunny day and avoid until it rains. This would be a great visit in winter but in summer months I would close it down as its just way to hot for any normal person to stand.
We had to leave half way through as the grandchildren needed a drink. We went into the café located next door and joined a line of people down a ramp. By the time we got to the front of the counter we had been waiting over 20 minutes so just needed a drink and was really not bothered about the service or customer experience.
Clearly this café needs move staff or another counter area to speed up the service as a lot of customers just left the line and went elsewhere to get something to eat. We would return in winter and try all the areas again to see if they have improved but wouldn't recommend this place now.

Don't go on a hot day! Lovely idea and great place for kids to visit. Situated in a good location as the parks beautiful too. Only downfall is how stuffy it is in butterfly world, made me feel slightly ill. I understand this is for the animals so you just have to deal with it.

We parked in the free car Park just down the road from the main entrance, you can walk through the park if you like to get to the entrance.
Once in we looked for all the butterfly’s, it’s very warm so coats and jumpers off. You follow the arrows round and this takes you through all the buildings. You get to see fish, lizards, meerkats, monkeys, birds, butterfly’s, and lots lots more.
