“Hidden gem!”

We had an amazing Christmas getaway at the Boat House Retreat. We couldn't thank James and Karen enough for their hospitality and warm welcome. The cosy cabin was suited to our every need...it's situated in a very tranquil and private surrounding with beautiful views of the meadow. We couldn't help but get up early mornings in the freezing weather just to see the stunning winter sunrise.

We visited Arundel Castle and the stunning Arundel Cathedral. Also the drive down to Brighton and Portsmouth is not long either, for a day trip out.
Regarding food there are many pubs nearby for good food options and the cabin itself has many take-away leaflets left behind by visitors from which you can order.
All in all our stay has been brilliant and we'd defiantly come again!

“Brilliant”

Great location, close to Chichester and Arundel. The Boat House Retreat is warm & welcoming. Christmas decorations & tree were up and lots of seasonal touches. This was our second stay and hopefully not our last.

“Outstanding Cottage in garden setting”
Reviewed 9 November 2016 for a stay in June 2016

The Boat House Retreat is a little hidden gem. From the moment we arrived till we sadly drove away we were so well looked after by our charming hosts James and Karen. From little welcome baskets to fresh flowers in the cottage and luxury cottage nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. They were so generous with their time in explaining all the beautiful attractions and drives to explore this wonderful part of Sussex.

“A little slice of heaven...”

A truly exceptional property and host.

Situated in the gorgeous Sussex countryside the property ensures you are ideally located to explore the best that the County has to offer, from the quaint City of Chichester to the bustling sights and sounds of Brighton, historical buildings, extraordinary villages such as Bodisham (that floods each time the tide comes in!) and the South Downs on your doorstep with its incredible rolling countryside and amazing views - there is genuinely something here for everyone.

The property is exceptional and has everything you could want - clean, private, lovely views over an immaculate secluded garden, ample private parking behind the lodge and security lighting all around should you get back in the dark! The bed and pillows were wonderful and I can honestly say its the best sleep I have had in years!

There was even a courtesy bowl of fruit and cereal with orange juice and milk in the fridge - certainly enough to tide you over until you pop out and get your own bits in the morning - which we did by heading towards Chichester and coming upon a Sainsburys on the outskirts of town (well signposted as usual).

Our host was exceptional, nothing was too much bother and Jim was quick to point out how everything worked in the lodge and give us a few tips on what to see and where to go. He even provided candles when Southern Electric unfortunately cut off the electricity supply whilst working down the lane!

I am a little loathe giving such an outstanding review because it might make return visits difficult to book and more expensive, but credit where credit is due, this place will not disappoint.

My wife summed it up nicely - "A little slice of heaven..."

Thanks Jim!
