This fascinating factory, fortunately saved from demolition, offers wonderful insight into the lives of Birmingham's working class as well as the history of the city itself. We went on Chris's Friday noon tour and his enthusiasm in sharing about the folks who worked here was amazing. We were lucky to be 2 of 6 people on the tour and the other 4 added immensely to our enjoyment as they had experiences to add. This is a must-see in order to appreciate how Birmingham has developed.

Thank you so much for your review - we are glad that your enjoyed your tour, Chris will be really pleased too! Coffin Furniture is a great window into Birmingham's industrial past because it was one of the many small metal goods which Birmingham was famous for producing, and the stories linked to this factory, especially those about the people who worked here, are the stories of the city.

An interesting tour of the conserved Newman Brothers factory, makers of coffin furniture (not the actual coffin), shrouds and sewn interior trappings of coffins. Personal stories of past workers made for an engaging tour alongside the demonstrations of machinery, viewing of the factory and craft items.
