Took my wife here for a Cream Tea on her birthday, It was her choice and I wanted to see what it was like as I had lived nearby when young and remembered the building before it was a hotel. I rang up and booked beforehand as it was fairly short notice and I thought it would be busy but on arriving we were the only people in the room.
Lovely Scones, Jam and Clotted Cream. Ran out of Jam and Cream but on asking more was brought. Pot of tea and coffee included.
Can't complain about the service, the food or the price but would have preferred it if the place had been busier and there had been more of a buzz about the place, however it was a midweek afternoon.

Great young lady waiting on our table. Nothing was to much trouble. Very polite and professional. Great atmosphere. Beautiful surroundings. Good choice on the menu from a sandwich to full meal. Relaxing lunch without being made to rush. Well done to the Team!!

Visited for afternoon tea with friends. The place itself was lovely. The afternoon tea was average. A choice of tea was not offered, just tea or coffee. The sandwiches were average and we were not asked if we had any dietary requirements or sandwich preference. The scones were big but dry. The macaroons were nice. Cake selection average and not presented well. Service was lacking and we had to ask for more tea instead of it being offered.

We had been told that the hotel does a superb afternoon tea ....OMG. Unfortunately for us that was not the case .It was awful. ORIGINALLY 2 PLATTERS OF SMALL SANWICHES FOR 45 PEOPLE !!!!.The cake selection was very poor too .We had to ask for refills on tea and coffees. After complaining we were given more sandwiches (veggies only offered cheese ) some money back and everyone had a drink from the bar( that must have been expensive !) There was a lot of running backwards and forwards to the manager/waiters .On a positive note the lady manager did try and sort out our problems ,however the afternoon was slightly tainted . The hotel was notified on how many people to expect, not sure what happened here. Would think twice about booking for a large venue there .

Went here on sat 22 nd July to have afternoon tea for a friends birthday , when we were shown where to go was nice that we had a room to ourselves , after we sat down 3 of the cups were dirty so they changed them , when they brought the sandwichs and cakes in we were more than disappointed, we had rang the day before to ask for some of the sandwiches to be plain as there was dietary needs and were told that would be sorted but it wasn't. The cakes were shop bought macaroons, shop bought Madeira cake and profiteroles that had no chocolate on them . They did bring us a bottle of presseco for us free of charge but it was rubbish and wouldn't advise anyone to go £16.95 is a lot of money there were 8 of us so not to have cream cakes for a afternoon tea is discraceful ,I could have put the tea on at my house for £20 for every one , I've been to a few of these afternoon teas now and this one was dismal. Not sure if it was because there was a wedding on but that shouldn't make a difference .
