If you’re technically minded and love seeing stuff work then you’ll love this place. Loads of moving mechanical displays all activated at the press of a button.. rather inspiring and takes me back to tinkering with knex and Lego as a child.

I’d seen the MAD museum on a visit to Stratford a few years ago but didn’t have time to go in and it’s been on my to-do list ever since. Finally got a chance to visit today and was not disappointed.

Whilst the museum itself is relatively small, we spent a good hour inside and I’d happily have stayed longer. The member of staff who greeted us clearly had a passion for what he does and that really does make a difference.

If you get bored if Shakespeare-related things in Stratford, this museum is worth a look with many mechanical contraptions, ranging from moving wooden figures, to complex wires and ball-bearings based devices. Not a bad way to spend a spare hour in Stratford.

There is a surprising amount to see and do in this small museum. Many of the features are mesmerising and you are compelled to stand and watch (an emotion I've never experienced in a museum before!) My kids loved it and were inspired to come away and start building things which meant they spent at least 10 minutes away from the tablet. The staff are very friendly and helped when my daughter lost her camera. (It was found under a large ladies bottom in the cinema area). Let's be honest, young kids aren't going to be interested in Shakespeare's house so, make this the reward if they promise not to moan.

Must be a fifth or sixth visit for me. This quirky little exhibition is a great addition to any Stratford visit. While away an hour easily looking at weird and wonderful machines that are very active but achieve nothing!
Some good interactive marble runs to build too so something for everyone. A hand stalwart for us too when people come to visit.
Family ticket at £22 is reasonable in my opinion and regular visitors can save stamps for a free visit.

We went on a Monday afternoon. Some mentioned the price. Maybe for a couple but a special rate for families. If you are interested in imagination and what can happen. Besides it was fun to watch the machines. If you are in Stafford for Shakespeare and have a free hour use it here.
