Potentially 4 stars but marked down as there were a few little issues during the stay which included no hot water on the last day, the very squeaky floorboards (which some may find quaint given the age of the hotel) and the room could have done with a good vacuum of the carpet. On the plus side found the staff friendly and helpful, hotel well-located to all major attractions and shops/ restaurants. Hotel has a lot of character and a nice place for a relaxing drink in the bar area. Despite the downsides overall had a pleasant stay.

We arrived at the hotel at 3 pm as they instructed and the rooms were not ready , there was not smiling faces to great you at all . There was a mix up with are rooms as we had asked and payed for a twin with walk in shower , the chap on reception were stand-off-ish and an overall atmosphere that you were not welcome .
Just because we had arrived on a bus tour doesn’t mean I can’t afford to go anywhere els and the staff at this hotel need a good talk about the way they talk to paying customers.
Also we couldn’t open the window in are room which was quite worrying. The room was very clean which was a plus .
If the owners want more customers in the hotel I suggest they start by dealing with the non manned staff , a welcoming face and attitude goes a long way .

Dear Cooper2110
Thank you for taking the time to post your review and I am very sorry you felt the staff were not welcoming. We generally get very good feedback about our hotel team so this has come as a bit of a shock and I will certainly remind the staff about their attitude.
I apologise if in any way you felt you were not welcome - you certainly are, and I hope you will come back again soon.
Kind regards

All very good, location superb, rooms and staff all good, parking not easy and to include in total cost would have been good, but making an extra charge for such feels like a bit of penny pinching! but over all, very nice.

Dear lyneCullompton
Thank you for your comments and I am afraid, these days, all town and city-centre hotels charge for car parking - it's no different in Stratford-upon-Avon. I hope it will not deter you from returning to The Shakespeare - you seemed to have enjoyed your stay!
Kind regards

We arrived and the receptionist didn’t read my Accor card , so the room we were initially given was very ordinary. The next day we were given the correct room type. Obviously it is an old hotel , however it lives up to The ordinariness of English hotels.Parking was fine .

Dear NigelBacon
Thank you for your feedback and I am glad you finally received your correct room type and found the hotel pleasant enough, but apologise if you found the hotel ordinary - we try not to be.
Nonetheless I hope when you are next over from Australia you will return for another stay!
Best wishes

Fantastic location, you could not get it more central, building full of character and with parking!
We arrived Thursday afternoon, and found it a little tricky finding the entrance to the car park, but once found we were able just, to find a space.
Checkin was very good, maybe due to the fact we were in. Premium room which was very spacious and comfortable although bath/shower could have been more modern, but that’s forgetting where we were.

Due to the location we dined outside the hotel.
We did have breakfast which was included on the price we paid, it was not worth the money, everything was over cooked and not very appertising.

However we would definitely book again, for the service, parking and definitely the location.
