Stayed here for two nights in half ten to visit Alton Towers, was further away that I thought 40 minute drive but was a great price for a family.
Short walk into town - 10 minutes where you’ll find shops & restaurants, plus it’s opposite Pizza Hut & KFC if that’s your thing. Short drive to an Asda, and half way to A Towers we found Tesco at Uttoxeter. Bulk standard travelodge, parking free - guy at reception really friendly & chatty. Would definitely stay again :)

It's a little over three years since we first stayed at this Travelodge. At the time I said it was mostly OK. One of the issues I pointed out were the bedside lamps being broken - they were on stalks that just flop the light onto the ground and nowhere near whatever you are trying to read.

Three years on, they have not been touched and are just as useless.

Also, the bath had not been properly cleaned, grime under the hand rails.

Lots of condensation on the window, with matching mould. Said condensation cascaded onto the carpet and made a rucksack wet.

Which is a shame, as it's in a good location, the front desk staff were good, the place has free parking and as long as you are good on your feet, the town is about ten or so minutes walk away.

We booked comparatively late, so Travelodge jack the price up to something that was not good value, particularly given the grotty state of the room.

Room tip: Don't go at a time of year there will be condensation or if you want to read a book in bed.

I stayed for one night on my way to the NEC. The hotel was within easy reach of the M40 and M42.The room was comfortable and despite facing a main road, quiet. The bed was comfortable. The hotel was within walking distance of two supermarkets. So I could buy snacks or anything I might have forgotten to pack. The one member of staff I met was polite and well mannered. I had breakfast in the dining area the next day. Three was a reasonable choice of food. A really good place for an overnight stop, to recharge ones batteries and relax.

Me and Mr B decided to come to Shakespeare town to get a bit of culture but to be honest it was a stop halfway down to Torquay

We rarely stay in the travelodge so called hotels because we haven’t yet had a good experience but it was £35 and it saved us getting up at 4am. We also met the parents here as they were comin back from Torquay so everyone was happy

And yes everyone was happy even the lovely receptionist who was great so I’m thinking I may have found the one travelodge that actually is decent. It’s a nice looking building and the town is a 15 minute walk away. We walked to the town down the canal in the dark. Felt like I was in the walking dead

There’s an Aldi next door which was good because Mr B forgot his toothbrush. There’s a Tesco up the road and plenty of pubs and a McDonald’s. So your not exactly in the middle of nowhere. We saw Shakespeares house and it was very nice until my dad mentioned a documentary that said Shakespeare was really dodgy. Still not sure what this dodgyness was.

Anyhow the room was a normal travelodge room. Everything was fine but clearly the cleaner got bored as we had no towels and some previous guest hadn’t flushed the loo

Apart from that it was alright I really liked the bottle opener on the desk
