So many castles in England, and we only had time to visit one while we are here. Selected this as it didn’t look like a theme park and we were delighted we did.

We discovered an historical aspect connected to Elizabeth 1 which seemed to make the history come alive.

The site is a mix of ruins and restored parts, so while the restored /maintained bits show what it looks like, the ruins were better. You were able through the commentary and signage, really get a feel for the grandeur of the site.
Well worth investing a couple of hours

We came up the Kenilworth for our wedding anniversary and were looking for something to do on the Saturday and found the the castle was having a medieval jousting weekend within the castle grounds. It was great, there was enough for us to spend over 4 hours there.

Visited it several times. Enjoyed walking around and having picnic at the castle grounds. This time we visited because of the event. I'm English Heritage member, to be honest, I wasn't disappointed to pay for the event, but extra £2 for the car park was a bit unnecessary surprise.

Easy to park and a very good cafe. Castle and keep very interesting with an excellent audio tour. Informative display in the stables. A most enjoyable afternoon.

My wife has electric scooter and found it difficult accessing the keep. There is also a lift in the gardens to enable wheelchairs / scooters to access the upper parts of the castle but on the day of our visit there was a notice saying out of order. However when she spoke to a gardener he said the lift was ok but the castle staff were too lazy to open it up. As an able bodied visitor I enjoyed the visit but my wifes experiences let it down
