We travelled to Kenilworth Castle for the Elizabethan Pageant, although I knew a little of the story of Dudley and Elizabeth I so would probably have visited as EH members anyway.
We followed the well signposted car park at Abbey Ends, which provided a shuttle bus (just as well as all car parks at the venue were already full before 11am)
The day was well organised with plenty to do, staff were helpful and all-in-all it was great value for our EH member charge of a few quid.
The castle and garden itself are quite extensive with plenty to see, including a few climbs for great views from the towers. Also, both exhibitions were very informative and brought the castle to life.
Would highly recommend the castle itself, and also the event.

Real great place to spend the day, although we arrived at 11 & car park was already full but are car parks nearby & get given a map by the staff on the gate. There was lots going on through out the day & every event drew crowds. The gatehouse closed before rest of the castle so we went there after having lunch from the bbq that was on, very nice hotdogs & burgers both £4.95. Lots to look around & bit of something for everyone, very pleasent gardens with water feature & avery, the ruins itself take some time to look around as are fairly complete & many little rooms to go in. This is probably my favourite local castle to us & a fraction of the cost of Warwick although nowhere near the size. We're all looking forward to going back next bank holiday for the Medieval Festival & can't wait to see what The English Heritage have instore for that weekend, if the Elizabethan Pageant is anything to go by its going to be another excellent day out.

Very well organised special event at the castle. Great programme of events throughout the day. Horse displays, falconry and jesters. Also other activities including games for the children: sword fighting and jousting. Also got to meet Queen Elizabeth! Also explored the castle ruins.
Everyone taking part was first class and threw themselves into character. Really friendly including the free shuttle bus drivers. Highly recommended!

Visited this wonderful castle after many years away on a return home from Warwick and had a wonderful day with my fiancee and our dog as all English heritage sites are now dog friendly. Take the audio guide it's a fantastic supplement to the information boards. The staff are brilliant and very approachable. Give it a go!!
