Stayed for 2 nights mid week in October. Inspires nostalgia if you've only stayed in modern chains for a while. This place is brilliantly located on quayside, handy for train station, town centre, universities, St James Park, eating out, etc. May not be stylish enough for everyone but it offers good value for money for a short break. Personally, I found the bed too soft for my back but my partner had no problem with it. Appreciated the tea/coffee making facilities and there were even biscuits! Breakfast was available until 12 noon and was served in the downstairs café which had an interesting vibe. Staff were friendly and helpful - free luggage storage offered when we arrived early. Won't please everyone but we would stay again.

Room tip: front rooms have view of river but expect traffic noise if you open the window

Was a little sceptical at how nice this hotel would be for the price. Don't get me wrong it's far from the Ritz, but for what you pay it really is a great little find!

Would definetly stay again and would definetly recomend. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

Absolutely horrible hotel. The smell when you walk through the door was hardly bareable. The hotel was outdated and the staff- ever so rude! I will definitely not be returning, no matter how cheap it is

The hotel was a little noisy from the street noise. But the beds we're comfortable and the room was clean. Water took a while to warm out. We found that all the staff were friendly and it was in a great location.

Visited Newcastle this week with a friend for the first time and stayed at The Waterside. This was also my first time away anywhere without my parents so quite daunting at first.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay at, has a really nice homely feel to the place. The service was also amazing, great team working there that will answer any enquiries and help if needed. True Geordie hospitality!

The room we stayed in was lovely, lots of space, very clean.

Situated on Newcastle's queyside so it's a stone's throw from all the good bars and clubs.

Overall a fabulous place to stay and I can't recommend it enough, booked in again for next month already.

Thank you for a pleasant and memorable stay to all the staff at The Waterside, see you in a month's time!
