We had high hopes for this new Dorking restaurant but they have a few things to do to make it work. Food is good, but not great, agency staff who are non- attentive, don’t take pride in their work, are forgetful, and take down the wrong orders aren’t helpful either. On the plus side, the decor and ambience are great, it is a nice setting. The salt pig pork burger was nothing special and a little greasy, but the triple cooked chips were great, as was the salmon risotto and the wine choices. Overall it was well priced, so if Salt Pig can get things right it asap can be a nice, cheaper alternative to Sorrell although it is never going to be on a par with the new star restaurant in Dorking. Good luck over the next few weeks, we will be back if and when the reviews improve.

Dear Nick B,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Sorry to hear that you had a number of teething issues during your visit. As you know, we only just opened when you visited and the whole team has been working incredibly hard to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. We have taken on board your feedback, and that of others and I am confident these teething problems have now been resolved. Thank you for your kind compliments on the decor and ambience and our value for money, we look forward to welcoming you back to Salt Pig soon!

Visited this new restaurant for Saturday lunch. The building has been refurbished very well. The food was good. However, there was one disappointment in that 2 of the 6 main courses on the menu were unavailable. We were told the home made pie of the day was not available because it wasn't ready - which was strange as table was booked for 1.15pm so would have expected food to be ready! If they can get these teething problems sorted out then this should be a good restaurant.

3  Thank PaulatDorking

Dear PaulatDorking,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your lunch with us. Thank you for your kind compliments on the food and refurbishment. We are sorry to hear that a couple of dishes were unavailable when you visited. We had only just opened and all our food is freshly prepared, using local and seasonal ingredients where possible so it was difficult to judge how much to prepare at the time. I am confident that these teething problems have now been resolved and we look forward to welcoming you back to Salt Pig soon!
