We have just enjoyed the best Indian food we have eaten in ages. Genuinely this was sensational. Genuine and heartfelt welcome, attention to detail in the dishes, honestly brilliant xxx

Now I am truly not a big fan of curry usually or anything too spicy, I would even go as far to say that Indian cuisine is my least favourite.  But Sanjeevs in Baddeley Green has quite possibly changed my opinion!! I have been about six times and every meal has been delicious and cooked exactly  to my requirements.

I first chose to visit Sanjeevs after hearing they mark their menu out clearly with gluten free options.  Indian cuisine does tend to be mostly naturally gluten free, but it still helps to know which dishes are safe to eat and saves the hassle of asking questions.  I was pleased to see that they also state if a dish contains lactose (dairy) so again really useful as a Coeliac vegan trying to choose a meal

They have a delicious menu with many . They have also recently rebranded themselves.  Here is an exert from their website to explain :-

“Being the First Indian Restaurant based on Ayurvedic Concepts – Indian Herbal Science. It is not a typical UK curry house, our menu consists of Chef’s expertly created dishes with ancient herbs and spices to release stress and anxiety"

I love their new Ayurvedic concept and particularly love how their new menu states vegetarian dishes first and then goes on to list ‘non vegetarian’ specials   as vegetarians and vegans are usually somewhat of an afterthought and addition to menu offerings.

Most dishes on their menu are gluten free, its fab to have so much choice whilst dining out.  They will also tweak dishes that traditionally contain cream and instead use coconut cream and they advise well on the rice dishes, for example I wanted the veg pilau but was told by the knowledgeable waiter , that the veg was fried in ghee so not suitable for a vegan and he suggested an alternative .

The last time I went which was a couple of weeks ago, sanjeev offered us the vegan Thali. . It came out beautifully presented as you can see in the photos and each little dish was very tasty and completely different, he even did a gluten free naan type bread for us. I also had some of the Beetroot, potato, mint and ginger cakes, they are AMAZING!! They are gluten free and deep fried separately to ensure no cross contamination, and served on the bed of chick pea masala. Topped with tamarind chutney. Mmmm!!!

Their Aloo Achari which is a potato dish in a sauce with a pickled taste to it is also DELICIOUS!! My photo does not do it justice sadly as we shared a starter a few months back but it was incredibly tasty, I could have eaten a huge bowl of this, would highly recommend!! One time I went I had an ochra dish which you can see pictured, again full of flavour.

Sanjeev cooked me up a vegan Korma on one occasion and this was no problem at all, along with steamed rice.  It was again really tasty. I have in the past had a vegan masala too which was also extremely good.

One of my favourite dishes, I forget the name sadly, consists of aubergine cooked with coconut, ginger and sesame seeds, I LOVE aubergine but it has to be cooked right. This was delicious , it was baby aubergines still with their stems and the sauce was amazing.

My friend who loves his curry (as hot as possible unlike me ha ha) said that his faith in local curry houses has now been restored as it really was amazing food.  I would agree that they do stand out from the rest by miles. Well worth a visit!

Went on spec for tea. Arrived early yet were seated immediately. Food very nice. Can be described as Indian with a twist. Poppadoms were in a edible shaped basket. All courses were very nice. Chefs specials were indeed special. Husband had taster meal and loved every bit of it. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

We went to Sanjeevs on a Thursday evening for an impromptu meal with my friend and 6 year old son.
We had a starter of onion bhajis; which were absolutely huge and a Delhi sheekh kebab which were plentiful and very tasty.
My son order a chicken tikka masala and ric from the kids menu and wolfed it down with roti and nan breads for good measure.
My pal had the Murg Methi Malai with roti and I had the Chicken Makhani with rice. Absolutely delicious from start to finish. Good portion size and cooked to perfection.
My son had a dessert of ice cream and I indulged in the trio of ice cream which was kulfi, rose and coconut - they were all lovely except the rose wasn't to my taste - but it was very creamy.
Cannot wait to return and neither can my fussy son.
