A local place for us so went for my birthday. We were a party of six. A service charge is applied to parties of six. Refused to pay it and it was deducted. Will not return.
Sad way to increase your margin in hard times.

Hi
Thanks for your feedback.
Yes our tills do add an optional service charge on to tables over 6 & no we definitely do not do it to 'increase our margins' Like you said it's hard times at the minute, incuding for all of our incredible staff who the service charge would have got split between. Lots of businesses do this so I'm not sure why this has caused such upset.
We never force anyone to tip or pay a service charge and we are always more than happy to take it off our guests bills so using the word 'refused' seems a bit extreme! Tips are just a way of showing your appreciation to your server and are at the discretion of all guests on whether or not they wish to leave a tip. None of the tips received are taken by the business either just to clear that up :)
We hope you enjoyed your food & drinks and we would hope that a service charge being added to your table would not deter a return visit.
Best Wishes.

Excellent food and drink, service a little slow but seemed quite busy.

Drinks and cakes only.

Parking bit of a nightmare for our motorhome, exit same way as you come if higger than a car due to weird exit from carpark very narrow

It’s the second time we have visited this restaurant and both times have not been disappointed! The staff were very welcoming and very efficient ordering and serving out food to the table. We all chose different food and and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Booked an afternoon tea with friends and it was my second time visiting. The food was amazing and the service from Luke was outstanding. He was helpful and friendly which was lovely to see in a young man. There was what you would expect and want on the tea; finger sandwiches and scones, lovely fresh cakes, but there was also avocado on toast with feta, corn fritters with chilli jam, and yogurt with fruit and nuts. I will definitely be back to try the brunch or lunch menu.
